From the Desk of Jane Austen: 100 Postcards

Should Have Read the Fine Print
These cards are beautiful, but they lack variety and are flimsy - facts I would have known had I bothered to read the description and reviews. Generally, the best postcard sets have 100 unique designs on sturdy card-stock with thematic designs on the "blank" side to tie the whole thing together. Good sets will either be sturdy or diverse. This set is neither sturdy, nor varied, nor particularly creative in design. It's just disappointing all around.I do believe they will survive in the mail on most trips (at least in the US), but I'm certainly not excited about sending them out.

Gorgeous, but...
The style of these cards are really lovely, but you do not get 100 different cards, you get four sets of twenty five styles, I believe. I give the product 2 stars for pretty designs, and it looks nice on my shelf, but it isn't at all functional. I would frame these, possibly, but I think they would shred in the mail. A single piece of printer paper folded over three times is a little more sturdy than this cardstock. I will be buying blank cards to paste onto the back if I want to send them out in the mail.My fault for pre-ordering an item with no reviews, but maybe they will be useful for scrapbooking or some other activity. Certainly not for what I wanted... which is their intended purpose.

A fun product for Jane Austen fans.
I purchased these on a whim and I am glad I did. There are 4 sets of 25 different cards bearing one of Austen's witticisms each. No, I don't send postcards--so I have decided to give 25 to a friend who loves Austen and use the others for grocery lists, hoping that their tongue-in-cheek "wisdom" will counteract that pedestrian activity. Here's a sample.>"You deserve a longer letter than this; but it is my unhappy fate seldom to treat people so well as they deserve.">"What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps one in a continual state of inelegance.">"Wisdom is better than wit, and in the long run will certainly have the laugh on her side.">"Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery.">"Pictures of perfection, as you know, make me sick and wicked."

Great!!
I can say I was not expecting the amount of Postcards that would come in this package. There are so many!! They are great for just looks and use. I highly recommend this product!! I love it

Ugh!
I agree with the other two reviewers. These postcards pale in comparison to any other proper postcard. The paper is extremely cheap and flimsy that they probably wouldn't survive an international route, let alone a domestic one. To be fair, the designs are lovely (if you like loopy cursive), but you only get a variety of 25. I still can't get over the horrible choice of such thin paper.I would return this, but I bought it as a gift and the recipient didn't mind the quality since she said she wouldn't be mailing them (arts and crafts projects instead). So, if you're on the hunt for interesting postcards, don't bother buying these. You'll just be really disappointed. Get the Penguin Postcard boxset instead. Now those are AWESOME.

Unique
I love these postcards. So many different Jane Austen quotes and so elegant.

Would buy again.
Nice cards, great quotes. I am pleased them, but I do have to say they are very thin paper. Much thinner than a standard post card. This was fine for me, because I actually needed them for another craft project, not for mailing.

Not what I expected!!!
I gave this a 5 star so that it will be seen. The postcards repeat. There are no memorable quotes from the book on the cards. I thought it would be 100 postcards of 100 quotes from the book. I am a fan of the book and I was looking forward to seeing my favorite quotes on the postcards but no such luck.

Beautiful but not all quotes are Austen's
The design of these postcards, and even the box they're stored in, are beautiful. The card quality is average but that doesn't personally bother me as I'm using these as "Save the Date" pre-invites.I do have a couple of issues which these postcards. This is why I have given this product 3 stars. Firstly, there wasn't 100 postcards. Like another reviwer has mentioned, there was actually 96. For a "high-end" gift/stationary supplier, that is rather poor quality control. My other issue is that some of the quotes are actually not Jane Austen quotes! The ones I've spotted are from film adaptations or are common mis-quotations. One of these quotes was referenced as to being in one of her letters... turns out it was actually from a movie. I am disappointed by the lack of research from the designer. I think their research consisted of just a google search.

Worth the Price
These cards and the box are sturdy, and the quotes are Jane Austen's finest, from her novels and letters. There are 25 quotes repeated 4 times in varying colour schemes. The only reason I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars is that the colours (autumn-y, muted) are not my favourite combinations (the box gives you an idea of the colour scheme).

Wonderful Austen quotations
This was a gift to a Jane Austen enthusiast. I received several of the cards from the gift recipient, who is delighted with them. The pithy Austen quotations bring many a smile - even to one who is not a particular Jane Austen fan.

I love them
Beautifully illustrated cards that would do any Jane Austen collection proud. I love them. They come in a box in the shape and the appearance of a book.

Nice BUT...
Very pretty and love the quotes - BUT the cards were of poor quality (not strong enough to send as a postcard, so not fit for purpose) AND my sealed box contained only 96!!
