We subscribe to Charter Telecommunications and the router they provide is a Netgear. Can I plug my personal Belkin router into the Netgear adaptor as a means of extending/strengthening my whole house wifi signal?

There are different models of the Netgear adapters, I think. The one I have just provides internet signal through the house wiring, and you plug an Ethernet connection from the device you want to connect to the remote netgear powerline adapter that carries the signal. I think you may be referring to NETGEAR N300 Wi-Fi Range Extender - Wall Plug Version (WN3000RP) that reportedly does what you are looking for. The product description says universal compatibility.

Is it compatable with XAVB2001?

According to Netgear's support page, yes the XAVB2101 is compatible with the XAVB2001. Quote from the page: "Is XAVB2101 compatible with other powerline products?Our XAVB2101 is compatible with all of our 200 Mbps Home Plug AV products and our 500 Mbps Home Plug AV Products, for example XAVB2001, XAVB1004, XAVB5001, XAVB5501, and XAVB101v2. Does this work with DSL

If DSL modem has Ethernet output should work.

I have the powerline 500mpbs currently. I could get this and it will work the same as add-ons right?

I have both the 200 and 500 power line sets in my house; I two network cables one connected to one end of the router to one 500, same for the 200. I then plugged them into the wall, the 500 and 200 self-configured their settings, connected the 500 to an xbox and desktop to the 200 using Ethernet, both work flawless.
