Dale (Brooke Shields), an American heiress disguises herself as a man to take the place of her late father in a 1927 car race through the Sahara. But before she can finish the race she'll battle desert villain Rasoul (John Rhys-Davies), fall in love with the dashing Jaffar (Lambert Wilson), and try and make history by becoming the first woman to win the race. Review: Eighty - It was a good classic movie Review: A Classic - A wonderful story of love finding a different way and bringing different cultures together. There's plenty of action with a twist here and there so be careful when watching that you don't miss them. Set in the Sahara desert all about car racing for endurance and winning the race so it makes a name in the motor trade. Brooke is racing her fathers car when she is kidnapped by a sheik wanting another woman to add to his harem and some things don't go as planned. Throw in a handsome younger man would be more like it so you will have to wait about the events that continue to happen and who wins. The handsome man, older man or Brooke winning the finishing line and than who gets the heart. So I rated this an A grade plus for keeping it interesting and having you thinking what's going on with suspense. Now it's time for the popcorn and snacks so you can get down into the itty gritty of this movie while relaxing with your feet up for an unusual plus fabulous night in with a grand old classic. Enjoy!

I love the storyline ... Romance and action packed.
This movie doesn't deserve all the flack it got in the 80's. This is actually a good movie with a great storyline. This movie is a beautiful love story and an action filled one as well. Lambert Wilson is incredibly handsome and dashing as a Sheik. You'll feel like drowning in his eyes. The other actors are all good except for Brooke. Well no wonder her acting career didn't go anywhere. She should have taken acting lessons. Well at least she has a very beautiful face and her chemistry with her leading man is just believable. I gave this movie a high rating cause the story is really nice. This is not just a chick flick. Guys will enjoy this movie as well. The scenery, on location shooting is fascinating. You will be entertained by this movie.

Brooke's HOT in the SAHARA
An oldie and STILL a goodie. One of my most watched films as a kid and has now become a worthy edition to my DVD collection.Brooke Shields is at her most gorgeous in this role and it is nice to see her in playing a character different from her norm. The cinematography and score are part of what makes this movie so likable. The story is told at a good pace and the panther pit scene that Brooke is tossed into is particularly well done. An all round entertaining film that is totally underrated yet totally enjoyable.

a fine adventure film
i don't understand why this film has been given so much stick.it is a corny 1983 adventure like all the others in the eighties and does a good job as a film of it nature and genre. there's lots of cheese, granted, but isn't that what these kind of films are suppose to be full of? Brooke Shields looks absolutely stunning through out,and although her gender bending sequence was a bad idea, its not her fault.how can you make such a stunning woman pass for a man.the water fall scene makes up for it all though. Brooke's performance was fine,as were the performances of her co stars though nobody stands out. this was a fun and enjoyable adventure film, just as it was made to be and deserves a lot more credit.

Watched this years ago and had a major crush on the leading man!! Decided to buy it and see if it was as good as I remembered, a bit dated and today there would be an uproar about all the macho male dominance in the movie, however, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the movie again!! Definitely a movie for us ladies, my male side of the household just rolled their eyes and found other things to keep them busy.
