I am in love!
Sometimes, something just happens to come along in your life to make things that much easier, and the Plyopic mat does just that. Apart from the fact that the colours on this are simply stunning (I went for Neometric), the whole mat oozes quality.Don't get me wrong, I am NOT a seasoned yogi, merely one who has started out on a quest to learn but having had other, much cheaper mats, I have slid all over the place. I don't have sweaty paws or feet under normal circumstances, but seem to get all sweaty betty on the mat.I ended up using climbing chalk to try to stop the slide!Upon opening my mat I just felt the need to lie down on it for some reason, it just felt so lush...think suede effect to give you an idea. Just lovely. It was the tiniest bit rubbery smelling initially, but you would expect that from something that arrived in plastic. I have no worries with the fact the faint smell will dissipate quickly. As for the all important slide, nope, it has not happened. It has been the hottest Bank Holiday for a rather long time here in the UK and temps reached around 27 deg C for me. Sweaty hands, yup just a bit today. Did they move on the mat? No. In fact, something rather oddly nice happened, it was as if my hands had been stuck to the mat - and not in a horrid way. I really put some serious effort into trying to push my hands away from myself, to unseat the grip. Nothing to report. Same with my tootsies. They were still where I had put them.In the past I had attended a class but gave up as I simply slipped all over the place. It made postures difficult to sometimes dangerous, and I just couldn't give it my all. Now I am off to have a 30 day session with Ms Fightmaster on YouTube. And finally, to Emily at Plyopic, who answered an email that I sent at silly O'Clock one evening within about 4 hours I think. Very informative, and helpful. What is not to like - great product, fabulous customer service. I thank you!Update + 1 weekStill in love, and having done my first week with Ms Fightmaster I am feeling just so much more confident to try poses I know I am capable of, but just did not have the confidence in my old mat.It does attract fluff and all sorts, especially kitty kins ginger fur (not compatible with the overall colour scheme). I have remedied this using aforementioned kitty's rubber brush, for brushing fluff off his bedding. He has not mentioned a charge for this unauthorized use...

Not what was promised...
Very disappointed. Bought for going away on a yoga retreat, crazily heavy, thin so it has no comfort for your knees and more importantly it is NOT slip resistant. My yoga instructor tried it too and she was not impressed either, both of us slipped while in lunge etc. For an extremely expensive piece of kit, this was a massive disappointment.

Fantastic Yoga Mat - Especially For Hot Yoga and Sweaty Yogi's
I'm a big fan of this product, I wouldn't say that it's perfect, however, I really love it.The benefits:1. It stays put - it doesn't slip around when you do warrior or downwards facing dog.2. You stay put - If you're someone who perspires more than normal (like myself) this mat is perfect for you, there is no frustrating slipping around that happens with cheaper rubber mats. So even though its more pricey I would recommend it.3. It's eco-friendly and friendly for you - both the product and the company are eco-friendly, making it all the more appealing. It also comes with a strong strap allowing it to be transported successfully. Additionally, for every mat brought the company plant one tree with the "Lungs of the earth project".4. Easy to clean - I simply wipe it down with a little bit of vinegar diluted in water with an essential oil and its good to go.The negatives:1. Better when wet - the first couple vinyasa's I do, I find are a little slippy, but by the time I start sweating its perfect, and you're not going anywhere. To address this issue I give it a little spray with water or the above, diluted vinegar solution.2. Weight - it can get a little heavy. Carrying it to and from class isn't an issue, but I'd imagine it would take up a lot of baggage allowance if you wanted to travel with it, so if that's your plan, maybe opt for the 3-in-1 towel option.3. Not super thick - whilst it is thick enough that you feel very comfortable, I do find some discomfort on my spine when doing shoulder stands or on my head, when doing headstands, but it can be easily resolved by folding the mat on itself before a pose.Whilst it is more expensive than many cheaper mats, it's more than performance makes up for it.I would definitely recommend and buy again.

Now Everyday is a Beach Day!
I am beyond delighted with this mat. Now I can lie on the beach everyday :-) The texture is gorgeous, and there's no toxic chemical smells. To get better grip for doing downward dog/crow pose etc, I just dampen my hands a little. The black rubber side has really good grip for when I'm doing planks, mountain climbers etc. I've never spent this much money on a yoga/exercise mat before, but I see it as an investment as I do use it most days - it's a high quality mat, eco-friendly which was a huge selling point for me, and the beach scene is beautiful and calming. The alignment dots in the middle are very helpful too. I haven't washed it yet, as I'm waiting for a dry day to hang it out on the line, but I'm sure it will wash well. If you work out regularly and spend a lot of time on a mat - then I would highly recommend investing in a Plyopic mat - better for your health and better for the environment.
