Lenovo USA Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C Dock Gen 2 (40AS0090US)

I’m no tech wizard or computer wiz. I have a simple ThinkPad T16 that I use for my “home” computer and laptop when I travel. I’ve used ThinkPads for years, many years, and I’ve lived those years with cords and connectors scattered and strewn all over, behind, and under my desk. I’ve used a hub from time to time for a couple of simple things like extending to another monitor. I’ve stayed away from a dock because I was nervous about them, didn’t really understand. Stumbled onto a couple of YouTube videos and decided I’ve had enough of the cord chaos. I figured I’ve had ThinkPads forever so I’d take the plunge with this Lenovo ThinkPad Dock. Got it, opened it up, put it on the desk and started plugging in: Keyboard, Mouse, Webcam, Conference Speaker, 2 Monitors and wired my internet in by Ethernet. Plugged in the power, plugged ONE USB-C Cable into my laptop, turned on the power… and it worked. Seamlessly. Effortlessly. No catch, no problem, it just worked. How often does THAT happen??? One adjustment, the only adjustment was identifying my monitors and extending them in the order I want. That’s it. If you’ve been intimidated by technology or stalling and living with cable chaos - stop it (unless, of course, you just like it). This is the simplest solution I’ve ever seen. Flawless out of the box, even for a non-tech guy. It just works.

A lot cheaper than traditional docking stations (important since I'm paying for this out of my own pocket); and pretty convenient (just connect 1 cable, which allows me to place the laptop anywhere). I've used up all its ports except the HDMI port; and it works great. Out of the box, I had issues with it. It detects my USB 3.1 hub (with 3 external USB drives) but wouldn't allow me to access 2 of them (the one that it allowed me to access created data corruption; had to reformat the drive); it also recognized my ethernet cable attached but wouldn't transmit any data out of it. After updating its firmware, it's working great. My laptop is a Thinkpad T14 gen 4.

Excellent dock, have very few issues with it and it's used daily. There are sometimes issues where plugging/unplugging the cable during boot/POST or shutdown causes weird issues, but it's never been something that isn't fixed by powering it off and powering it back up. It's great to be able to pop the cable in and have access to my ultrawide, hardwired ethernet, speakers, mouse & keyb all with one cable, and then also be able to unplug and work from anywhere else without skipping a beat. Generally also works with non-Lenovo products, though I have noticed it sometimes takes a few attempts to get the monitors/charging/usb to all work.

Product itself was fine. Packaging was factory. Shipping was fast. However, I could not get this particular unit (part# 40AS) to display 3 external monitors at 1920x1080@60hz. Only 2 would display, the 3rd was blurry and choppy imagery. I ended up getting the 135watt 40AN version of the thunderbolt dock, and it worked fine. There are some BIOS and firmware procedures that need to be done in order for these to work sometimes. Do your homework to make sure you know what you need. I had these connected to a Lenovo T580 laptop with an Intel UHD 620 graphics card. I have never had to do so much re-work to make a laptop functional...

I've gone through 3-4 different usb-c docks in an attempt to find something that consistently works with my hardware setup and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. This dock seems to be the best value for what it is. It's well-supported on Fedora 42, all the components work, everything I plug into the usb ports behaves normally. I also like that it comes with its own power brick. The way I see it, if you're using a docking station with your laptop, it defeats the purpose if you have to crawl under your desk and unplug the power supply every time you undock it. In all, an excellent hub that solved multiple problems for me. Highly recommended.

Received this item and the warranty had already expired. Also found out from Lenovo when having issues with connections, that this docking station has been discontinued. Do not recommend this product

I have become spoiled using 2 external monitors with another laptop I used for several years. Current laptops' commuting abilities make them usable for me for all my needs whether in the office, traveling, or in class. However, the small single laptop screen is not as easy to view with my eyes as it was 10 years ago. I bought a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon, Gen 7 based on previous good performance of an earlier Thinkpad. This docking station works well, but like most new laptops it connects via the super/lightening/all in one USB C connection. I would prefer the older style connector, but this most be the way PC makers want to go. The setup was fairly quick and worked almost like plug and play with my two existing monitors. I had to invest a few minutes to set up the monitor displays as I wanted, but this probably the case with any docking station. I looked at the cheaper knockoff docking stations, but was not impressed with their reviews. Some also do not charge the laptop which makes them almost worthless. This Lenovo branded dock was certainly not cheap and I probably paid a premium for the name. So far it is working as advertised to charge my laptop and seamlessly switch to the external monitors when I plug it into my laptop.

i admin i bought amazon used, i received a like new product. this product came 3 pieces: the dock, the 90w power supply, and 1 USB C-C cable. and unforantely, a lot of returned produce has the wrong USB C-C cable that simply wouldn't work. long story short, there are many levels of the USB C-C cable, most basic one that only does USB 2.0 speed, and cannot lit up your monitor. you really need a USB C 3 GEN 2 10 gbps cable to work. unfortunately some user put the cheap usb cable in return that would ruin your experience.

I bought the stocking station as a hub for my daughter’s Lenovo laptop set up, which includes a monitor and many peripherals. It has been very reliable and has shown to be very simple to set up and use. I highly recommend this unit for those setting up computer workstation at home for study or work.

Sure it is expensive, and has some issues with display not showing up (fixed by updating firmware and plugging out/in the laptop USBC cable). But apart from that it works pretty good with all the devices i have connected so far. My 32 inch 2560x1440 LG monitor works like a charm at 144hz using displayport.
