I like that it came with batteries since I bought it for my newborn— I would have hated to open it for the first time in the middle of the night and then need to scramble for batteries before getting a temperature reading on my baby. It is so easy to use! With the cap on, you just touch it to the baby’s forehead or temple for temperature. When you pull the cap off, you can then use it for internal ear temperature, without having to switch settings- the cap does this for you. You push one button when you touch it to the baby and it’s almost instant that it gives the lighted temperature on the display. I preferred the quick touch on the forehead to get a temp reading for my infant rather than a rectal thermometer or one that the baby or child would have to be still in order to get an accurate reading. This one will work with a fussy and wiggly sick child bc it reads instantly and you don’t have to hold for so many seconds or slide from forehead to temple and around the ear to read their temperature. Quick and easy to use!!

This thermometer is awesome! I actually purchased it because a friend had recently ordered one first. I love how quick it works. It's literally one second. I have been looking for one for a long time for my babies. I had been looking at another option that our pediatrician uses and I have never heard anything but complaints about them. The Metene infrared thermometer takes one second, it's clear and bright and I've done multiple readings they are accurate each time. I will say that the side of the forehead/temple area seems to be a little more accurate of a reading for myself and my children. I definitely recommend the Metene infrared thermometer. Its also the modern, practical, and affordable option!

I bought 6 thermometers a little over a year ago and already need more! I’ve been wanting to get one like the hospital has but those are super expensive so I got this one based on the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised. Unlike my other skin reading devices this one illuminates AND has a giant viewing screen for the temperature. Crystal clear and takes less than 2 seconds to get a reading. If the reading is good it beeps once, if it registers a fever it beeps three times (not really sure of this purpose) but it’s quiet enough that it doesn’t cause an issue. I have 5 kids so I’m constantly dealing with fevers. This thermometer is great and I hope it lasts for a long while.

I haven't used this during a possible fever yet, but as for measuring normal temperature, it seems to be fairly accurate. When testing it, I compared it to other thermometers and tried it multiple times to see if the temperature reading was consistent. It was similar to oral temps measured with another thermometer and remained consistent within less than a half a degree. I'm not sure if it would be accurate enough to track ovulation, as that would require almost exact, less than half-a-degree farenheit accuracy, but it would be great for taking a temperature for a fever when ill. I also like that it can be used by multiple members of my household without expensive covers because it uses a forehead measurement and the part in contact with the forehead is raised away from the inlet, harder to clean parts. It can also be cleaned easily with a sanitizing cloth if need be. It is difficult to switch between units of measurement because there is only one button; after practice it gets easier and it isn't something that needs to be done often. It is important to use any thermometer correctly and be sure to place this type over the temporal artery as intended. Otherwise the readings can be lower than the actual, accurate temperature. I imagine this would be an easy way to track an infant or small child's temperature (even when sleeping) as it is much less invasive than a rectal temp and more accurate than oral or armpit temps.

This thermometer is really easy to use, but not very accurate. My 1 year old felt warm, so I took her temp with this and a different rectal one. This one on the ear setting said her temperature was 99.1 but the rectal reading was 100.7. Forehead reading was a laughable 97.5. It's great that it's so easy to use but there is no point if it's not accurate. *EDIT: Updating review to 3 stars because customer service was excellent. They reached out and sent me a new thermometer in case the one I originally got was bad. I'm still not convinced it's as accurate as an oral or rectal thermometer, but could be just how ear and forehead thermometers run.

THIS PRODUCT IS AMAZING. Not only does it have a sleek design, but it is extremely accurate. The only oddity I had a it is for the tympanic part you have to get directly inline with the tympanic membrane, but that’s with any thermometer. Not only is it extremely easy to use, but it has little smiley faces for what the two reads. Im a nursing student doing clinical rounds and I wanted something I could use for adults and kid’s and this is great for that. I get so many compliments on it too.

EDITED!!! They moved the review from below onto a different thermometer! Look out for these cheapskates! My review was for the temporal scanner one. If I find it, I will add a picture! My daughter is a medically fragile baby. I bought this to be able to do quick checks of her temp while she was sleeping. It’s easy to use and the display is very nice. However....I would not recommend it for medical use. I feel as the the reading isn’t always very accurate. But, overall, it would be able to tell you if a fever is evident and therefore does its job. Fine for a typical person or child.
