OXO Steel Muddler

I have nothing to compare to, other than the wooden pestle I have been using (smooth end) and other OXO products that I own.With this muddler, you can really crush your lime with substantial force to release the juices from the lime and the oils from its skin. The handle allows you to use significant force while remaining comfortable to use and the nylon end protects your glass from damage. I would recommend this as a replacement for any wooden muddler. I purchased this product several months ago and use it mainly for fresh ginger root. Prior to purchasing I tried a number of different options to get the fresh ginger root flavor and juice out into my dishes. I like a more intense ginger flavor. Nothing worked until I got the OXO muddler. It does a fantastic job, is easy to handle and cleaning is a simple rinse under water. My only regret is that I didn't purchase a metal cup to muddle in. I've been using a small glass tumbler with work fine, I'm just clumsy at times and afraid I might break my tumbler. I highly recommend this product.

Great for muddling mint for cocktails!

I bought this for my husband. I wanted to stop buying fruit on the bottom yogurt and buy yogurt in big tubs, and add fruits by each portion. With grocery prices as they are, it's much more economical this way. This one change has more than paid for this tool several times over. My husband muddles fresh fruit and combines with the yogurt and a bit of low sugar preserves. This is healthier and tastier than traditional fruit on the bottom yogurts. He used to use a potato masher to crush berries for our yogurts. He frequently says how much easier this tool is, which means we waste less food because we actually use more of the yogurt/berries we buy! I'm sure we will find other uses for this tool. OXO tools are the best - we've never had a tool by this brand we haven't loved, so no one should be surprised by this glowing review!!!

This Muddler works it's magic. I can't believe I used a fork before. Use a Muddler, it does the job.
