The 12x magnification (before any zoom from the smartphone) is the maximum you want for a phone in order to get a clear and stable picture.This will give you a way closer zoom than what your smartphone can do but most importantly you will not loose quality like it happens when zooming with your phone.Then if you want to zoom with your phone on top of that, example x2, it will become a x24 magnification but at this point you begin to loose quality since this is how smartphones work for the close up. x4 on the phone will make this x48, ect.From the highest seat of a Football seat, you won't need as much to be able to film close action.At 0 zoom from the phone, it's still convinient to hold it without the tripod but over this level the tripod will be required otherwise the image will begin to be unstable due to any slight movements.
