Tailored For Freedom: The Artistic Dress in 1900 in Fashion, Art, and Society Hardcover – February 15, 2019

This book was put out by the Art Museum in Krefeld, Germany. Krefeld was one of the major manufacturing centers for Art Nouveau silk brocades around 1900. This thick book contains information on European dress reform movements I have not found in either English or German sources. One chapter is on men's reform clothing, which is often overlooked because it was less noticeable than the women's reform costumes. The ideals of the 1900's dress reform movements fascinate me, but I have to admit that some styles looked better as concept art than as actual garments. I thought this book was well worth the purchase price.
