Smithsonian Eco Dome Habitat with Triops

I bought this for my son and he loved it. He loved placing small insects in the habitats to watch them grow.

I had high hopes for this product but was disappointed within minutes of opening the box.The material are cheaply made. The plastic parts will not fit together securely. Parts were missing from the package. Who would put bugs into a habitat that can't contain them? If you put ants, or any bug in this kit, you will have an infestation in your house. Don't buy this even if the price is reduced to Free.

Slightly disappointing for the high price. The plastic was cheaply made and it wouldn't stay together. There weren't any instructions and we were very confused. Not worth it even though Smithsonian is usually a good brand.

We bought this toy for our 7-year-old daughter who has an interest in anything science or animal related. It is very cheaply made and we had to use caulk to hold the majority of it together. The concept is very neat but the reality is not. The suction in the bug "vacuum" is non-existent. I expected more from a product with Smithsonian in its name. Now I know to avoid their products!

Please don't buy this product. I bought it thinking that the other two reviews must have done something wrong during setup or may have been overly critical. That's not the case, they are accurate reviews of this product. All the parts connect by the use of pressure points which is terrible in design, any change of pressure on any of the surfaces will cause it to implode. My wife and I bought this for our own entertainment, we figured we could watch a frog go through its stages etc. When you get this product you realize that in order to get a frog in the unit you must first catch one, there is no setup for tadpoles. The aquarium is adjacent to the rainforest habitat(frog habitat). If you need to clean the aquarium you must remove one of the walls to the rainforest habitat leaving to suggestion what may happen to the creatures that you have placed inside there. The ant hill is a plastic dome of green plastic inside a plastic dome of clear plastic. I can only imagine what would happen if I place sand on top of a plastic dome, I am positive gravity will take its course and the only anthill I will have is the ants trying to eat the frog on the rainforest habitat. Simply put, don't buy this, trust me!

This item came in fine, but when my son opened it on his birthday it was terrible. Orange pieces didn't fit on dome bottoms, bottoms were either broken or didn't fit together correctly, main tank didn't stay in place at all. I'm so unsatisfied with this. It wasn't cheap and for the money I was expecting at least for it to come in one piece not broken. I'm returning it and will find something else! This is not worth the money.
