This book is so insightful and explains the how and why of hormone imbalance, which affects so many women. We accept the weight gain -- "if you're over 30, forget it." I was quite surprised that Cutillo identified the different treatments and medications that physicians provide; patients are diagnosed with hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, as well as depression. They start treating those diseases, but in actuality, it's estrogen dominance. The book walks the reader through the way hormones work and where other diets and treatments are falling short. For example, a ketogenic diet alone would not help; the diet would need to be supplemented with other hormones.As a client of her Be Balanced Centers, I believe the book alone would not guide a person through the process. One would need to go to the center to speak to a counselor for. I've been blown away by a few weeks of strict dieting to reset years of estrogen insanity! For years I did everything I was "supposed" to do and felt my body was fighting me. I'm thrilled now that I've seen it's conquerable and Cutillo's book provides the background on why and how this should work.It's important to note it's not a diet book, but background information about the health and science of balancing hormones. In addition to diet, meditation is key to reduce stress hormones. On a side note, there is a good section about hair loss for men and women that could be helpful to anyone.The program is definitely beneficial and this book should be given to all participants in the program so people could understand up front. I would've liked a little more clarity around the explanations - perhaps "Hormones for Dummies" layout would be helpful as some people are new to the concepts. Cutillo does try to appeal to the readers with an enthusiasm and optimism.

Why don't doctors tell us all of this? That is the question I keep getting from my friends when I share the information that I have learned from this book. As someone who has spent years eating well and exercising, I was becoming extremely frustrated with the changes in my body, both mentally and physically, that I seemed to have no control over. There are so many diets out there that tell you to "eat this" or "don't eat that" - but what they don't do is explain what is going on and give you the understanding behind the "why". Dawn's book answered so many questions and resonated with me and what I have experienced with my own body, It was a bit difficult at times to get through some of the wordiness of the scientific details, but the information that I was getting was worth it. I recommend this book to any woman of maturity. I believe it is very important to understand what is happening to our bodies and WHY the protocols that Dawn recommends really work. It helps me to look at my nutrition, food plans and supplements and put them together in a way that really make a difference to make me feel better and healthier.

This helped me out tremendously. It's written in a thorough, easy to understand language. I had tried an estrogen replacement which helped for a few months. But this book opened my eyes to the real condition of menopause - the lack of progesterone and in the right form. Some reviewers have criticized the author pushing products sold in her clinic, but I don't see a problem with that; she can make money on the book as well as on anything else she created or help create... she'd be crazy not to mention her products in her own book. She also shares detailed guidance on selecting a quality product. I found one from my local health food store that met the criteria she described and it seems to be working for me, no more hot flashes and night sweats have decreased significantly. It took about 3 weeks to kick in. I would not mind trying her products, but it's a little extra effort and maybe a little more $ since I can find something that works that's convenient. :)

This book had so much information it was almost overwhelming. As a person who has struggled with weight most of my life, I wish this information had been available to me years ago. As someone who has done the BeBalanced program for three round, I can tell you it works. After trying just about every diet out there, this is one I have lost weight on and have kept the weight off! Thank you Dawn! I will be rereading this book over and over again and sharing!

This book is extremely informative about what happens in the female body that you will never be able to learn from your doctor. I was able to read the whole book in one evening because it is written in very easy to understand language and not "medical speak" like some other books. I now have an understanding about why my weight is an issue and why I have suffered with thyroid issues. This is a must read for all women who truly want to understand their bodies and learn about a program that can naturally help resolve all of their hormone related issues. Thank you Ms. Cutillo!!!

If you have been struggling with your weight and nothing seems to work, this diet DOES!! In addition to purchasing this book, I also did her Be Balanced program and it has changed my life! I lost 16 pounds and I feel like myself again!

I loved this book and found it to be very informative. I have read quite a few books on balancing hormones but found this one to be more complete as it addresses many different aspects of weight loss and hormone balancing, not just the use of bio-identical progesterone cream. It describes how hormones are affected by stress, depression and ageing, and offers natural and alternative homeopathic solutions, creams, and mind body techniques to bring hormones back into balance.I found the author to be very knowledgeable. She draws from a lot of clinical experience from her own practice and provides testimonials from her patients suffering from different ailments.The book is also very well written and easy to read.
