Folkmanis Ferret Hand Puppet

Cute. Made well

A very realistic and interesting puppet, of a creature not often seen as a plush or puppet. The fur is VERY soft and plush, and the overall coloring is very well done. When being used as a puppet, this body style is at a distinct advantage over many puppets of being able to be held in such a way that the inserted arm is not obvious and gives the ability of portraying a very realistic creature. A bonus, to the fact that it is similar to an actual life-sized adult ferret which adds to the realism. My only real criticism, would be the problem with many of the Folkmanis puppets; the area to manipulate the mouth is very small for adult use, I have small hands and fingers, and it is still somewhat of a tight squeeze. Although, unlike some puppets, this puppet doesn't suffer much from the user only being able to move and twist the upper body, which is sizable and should be accessible to most people's forearms. Overall, one of the most realistic of the Folkmanis puppets, and highly recommended. I purchased it for use as a possible costume prop and I think it will work well, but it would be a good snuggle buddy or conversation piece even if you didn't want it for use as a puppet.

What I like about this is that it's a ferret toy that I can actually play with. I have really big hands, but I'm able to get my hand into the neck and have this ferret put on a show with any of my wife's puppets. (The daughter, co-keeper of the real-world ferts, also likes him.) (As do all of the cats.) (The real weasels, though, took one look and bounced off elsewhere.) I was originally looking for a different toy entirely (I've now forgotten what), but this showed up as a "You're insane enough to like ferrets so you may also like these items" Amazon Random Recommendation, so fool that I am I clicked on it. Absolutely delighted with it. It's somewhere near 24" long, stands up (when propped; the neck is kinda limp) maybe 8", and is made to look like everyone's idea of a Generic Ferret (the brown-colors bandit). It's not limp (except at the neck, and that may be because that's where the operator's hand goes), and it's as fun to play with as it is to display. The workmanship is top-notch; whoever's doing these deserves to sell a bunch more. (There's a similar pouch of sorts--ferrets not marsupials, folks--down around the Nether Regions. Not sure why I want to stick my hand in _there_, but it's there. No explanations.) It comes with a little short story about "Ferret's Bad Day" with a rabbit, and a list of Ferret Facts that all weasel owners already know. (If you don't know why you should love ferrets as pets, buy this puppet, and then picture a herd of them at half the size and a hundred times the manic energy. 'Nuff said.)

This product was GREAT. She has an adorable little face, and the fur is just so nice! And she's BIG. I customized mine as a gift for a friend with jewelry, clothes and better quality (but less realistic eyes) and she dressed up just beautifully. Anyone who is obsessed by ferrets, or who has a child/friend/partner who just can't get enough should snap up one of these. My only complaint is that the nose is a little 'ratty' instead of dogish. I toned down the pinkness by hitting it with a little eyeshadow. Worked great!

Wow, this truly looks so real in person! My 7 year old grandson was asking for a ferret so I got him this and he loves it!

Overall, it's a very cute puppet. I wish the inside is a bit bigger for an adult hand, and I am a person with small hand. It's hard to keep playing with my baby when the inside is so small, just not comfortable. It also sheds ... Not great if your kid pulls on it.

Great fit

Bought this for my stepdaughter as a gift from “Santa.” She’s been asking for a ferret for a while now, and we decided this would be a great substitute until she can demonstrate that she’s responsible enough to take care of an animal. The plush is perfect! It’s crazy soft, and has two holes where it can be “puppeted.” The holes are definitely made for a child’s hand, or someone with small hands. It is pretty big! Probably bigger than a live ferret, but not by much. Great product for that ferret loving kiddo in your life!
