Great soap, scent is unusual
D.R. Harris soaps are superior tallow soaps, with a thick, slick lather and great post-shave feel. I get better shaves with these soaps. However, the soaps are triple milled, so the air has been squeezed out, leaving hard, concentrated soap, so the first 4-5 shaves you will need to “bloom” (soak) the soap to soften and moisturize it a bit. I put warm water in the cap and screw it back on to soak while I am taking my shower. Rub it on your face until you have a uniform white layer of soap, then lather up. I like Arlington, Marlborough, Lavender and Windsor, but Almond takes some getting used to. It smells like quinine, or tonic water, supposedly like the almond blossom. It is not sweet like Cella and other Italian almond soaps. It is mild though so you can ignore it if it doesn't please you. I like the other scents better, but some prefer this because it is almost neutral.

Great for travel
I have been using these DR Harris shaving soaps for many years. The perfect way to carry shaving soap for travel. Fits in my Dopp kit and works well with a shaving brush. Lasts a long time and produces a great lather.

and this is the best one I found
I tried a few different shave sticks, and this is the best one I found. I have a bad case of hard water, but even when I'm lazy and don't work at it too hard, this gives me a beautiful lather in just seconds. I will be buying this again and again (see my review history for some of the other soaps I tried to get here).Still love the soap, but the seller will not stop emailing me to leave a review. So I changed it to 1.

My new travel shaving soap
As with anything Dr Harris the quality was impeccable. My decision was helped by I already owned the shave soap puck. I purchased this stick of soap to put in my travel bag for shaving when traveling. I was able to build a good quality slick lather with my Art of Shaving Turnback brush.
