Bal-A-Vis-X is an acronym for Balance/Auditory/Vision eXercises, all of which are deeply rooted in rhythm. Using sand-filled bags and racquetballs, these exercises address visual tracking deficiency, auditory imprecision, impulsivity, balance and anxiety issues. Bag exercises are often combined with foot patterns; ball exercises are often done while standing on special balance boards. In partner/group settings, exercises demand cooperation, promote self-challenge, foster peer teaching. This book was originally published in 2001. Its content is all we knew, at that time, about the benefits of Bal-A-Vis-X for struggling students. If you teach students who, although struggling, are capable of mainstream instruction (they do not have severe special needs), the information in this book is as valid today as it was then. This Second Edition simply updates details and nuances. If, however, you are a therapist or if you teach those with severe special needs (autism, CP, MS, TBI, PTSD, etc.), you would be better served by RESONANCE, published in 2007. Any teacher or therapist might find value in CUES: FOR LEARNING AND TEACHING IN FLOW, published in 2014. Five Stars This work is fantastic
This book, this method is no nonsense and all educators should know about Brain Buddy Balance Board. I have used this book and it's true, you MUST do at least one training. I have seen the results of this work and it is so very important. Yes, Bill shares his journey. I love it because the examples and the journey are real and show what good teachers and the like do! I deeply respect his work and can't imagine not using it ever again.

Fabulous Program
This is an amazingly helpful program to assist many students, who are either underachievers or those with identified learning challenges, be more efficient, competent learners.

I went to the training and I will use this book to help my students with balance and focus!

bal a vis x, homeschool, reading,
I gave this as a gift to my daughter who is homeschooling four children. She sat down and read the entire book immediately. I sent balls for her to use with the book and will also make bean bags for the kids to use. I was pleased to find this available on Amazon.

This book has good information, but, as parent I need more visual information, Pictures and step by step information.

Not a hand book to follow if you can't make a training session
Very disappointed. I was hoping that this would be a guide book on the exercises and tasks to set up Bal-A-Vis-X. I should have read the reviews. It is research following students and their progress while doing the exercises.

This theory to practice book allows hands on examples, exercises to perform and trouble shooting techniques - can't be beat!

Wenig praktische Informationen
Das Buch erzählt sehr ausführlich die Entwicklungsgeschichte der Bal-A-Vis-X Technik, gibt aber nur rudimentäre Informationen zu Übungen. Ohne einen Kurs belegt zu haben, kann man mit dem Buch nichts anfangen. Es wir immer wieder auf verschiedene DVDs hingewiesen, die ich aber nirgends finden kann. Zu dem Preis würde ich es definitiv nicht weiter empfehlen.

Trop d'explications
Je croyais recevoir un cahier avec les descriptions des exercices accompagnés de photos. Mais le 3/4 du cahier expliqué la philosophie et le 1/4 restant donne quelques exercices.
