Johnny RayJR-400 Marine 1.25 by 2.875-Inch Top Push-Button Release Portable Sonar Swivel Mount, Black Finish

I love this mount. It is very solid. The only problem... if you are going to advertise it fits a Humminbird Helix model, don't pre-drill holes that make my job so much worse! The only way to get it to mount is if I drilled the holes to the side and then used washers (as the now oblique holes will not hold the mount solid). Why they drilled the holes is beyond my comprehension, and I am not alone apparently.

I have a Humminbird Helix 5 and bought this swivel mount for it. It didn't fir very well as, I think it was made for more compact sonars. I was easily able to adapt it to my Helix 5 with a small piece of cedar. Overall, these guys have been making swivel mounts for years and they are good. I just wished that there was a sort of compatibility chart so I could have purchased the ideal size.

Terrible product, trap advertising. I bought this for a Humminbird Helix 5 Si GPS G2, right on the package its says, ''suggested fit for helix 5 units.'' I received the package today, went to mount it and the holes are not aligned. They are aligned in sucha way that I cant even drill new holes to accommodate it without it being off center. Why would would they advertise for helix units if it doesnt work? A COMPLETE JOKE, never buying anything from them again.Side note, if you go to there website and look up the model, it says it made for the helix units, but the holes dont line up. There is a small asterisk at the bottom of the page saying, please drill into your more expensive gimbal mount to make it work. COMPANY OF IDIOTS

I should have paid attention to the reviews, they are spot on, believe them! Not designed to work well with HumminbIrd Helix 5. I looked at this on the Johnny Ray website and they specified the JR-400 for the Helix 5 so I added it to an Amazon order. It could probably be jerry rigged and made to work but I'm not willing to do that when there are other options. Unfortunate because I really do like the simplicity and low profile.

This is not an exact fit for my Helix 5 but it also said it wasn't. I filled the existing mounting holes with some JB weld and simply redrilled the mounting holes in the right spot. It quickly turns a non swivel mounted device into one.

I had purchased a Helix 5 for the bow of my Ranger project boat and they do not have swivel mounts. According to Johnny Ray's website this is the correct one for the Helix. According to some reviewers this will need to be drilled. I have used their products before and have always liked the way they perform. Not only have swivel but the Helix will be removable with the bracket.

Does not fit a Helix 5 as stated without modification. Otherwise it works fine.

I purchased this unit to use with my Humminbird Helix. But the hole pattern didn't match. At first I thought I could simply drill new holes, but the new holes would overlap the existing ones. I ended up elongating the holes with a rat-tail file. It worked out OK and like the way it works. But why not make a version that's plug-n-play with Helix?

Arrived on time. I have a helix 5 chirp di and from previous posts I knew the holes would not line up. I used J B Weld on the holes and then drilled new ones, worked great. It is now installed and works like I wanted. A good sturdy Mount.

Great little sonar base. It doesn't fit the Humminbird Helix 5 out of the box (which I knew), but just needed to screw out / enlarge existing holes & hold with steel machine screws, nuts and washers. One time modification & it's good to go everytime now. Works great & quickly add / remove the sonar.
