Hours of fun for the entire family
Wii Sports Resort is an excellent family friendly game. Most games have up to four players but a couple are in two player mode. Make sure to pick up extra Wii MotionPlus for your Wii remotes, since the game only comes with one. The Wii MotionPlus adapter gives you better accuracy and control of your movements. If during game play the remote is not quite acting the way it should be, all you need to do is lay the remote face down on a flat surface for a couple seconds and it recalibrates it. The games are fun and we can't stop laughing while playing. Let me to tell you that you do get one heck of a workout though. The graphics are good with vivid colors and you still have your other saved Mii's in the audience cheering you on. You may want to consider purchasing Wii Sports Resort Pack which offers 2 Star Sabers, Table Top Racing Stand, Racing Wheel, Jet Ski Handle, and Rubber Grip for a more realistic feel to gameplay. Since many reviewers and item description have mentioned what games are included, I will give a brief description of my favorites ones. On top of my list is Archery. You use both the nunchuck and remote during gameplay. Holding the remote in your left hand straight up and pulling back with the nunchuck in the other hand like you are really using a bow and arrow. Sounds easy but the game gets progressively harder as you go on. Another one my family loves to play is Swordplay. In Swordplay you use the remote as if you were using a sword. You can even use a block feature by pressing the "B" button. We laugh like crazy when we play this one and you can get into some really extreme battles. I just love to watch the Mii's fall-over the platform in slow motion! Canoeing is another fun one to play. You use the remote like you would use a paddle and try to get around the course avoiding obstacles and try beating your opponent to the finish lines. I love crashing into the other canoe and making them get off course. This game will give you one good workout of your arms so be prepared. Wii Resort is an welcomed added addition to my collection of Wii games. Anyone will enjoy playing this game from the occasional gamer to the hard-core get in your face type of player. Wuhu Island welcomes anyone. :-)

Oodles of Fun
Wii Sports Resort is a great collection of mini-games all located at a mythical island. You can do archery, frisbee, swordfighting, golf, and more. Lots of fun! There are twelve basic categories of games. These are: swordplay, wakeboarding, frisbee, archery, basketball, table tennis, golf, bowling, power cruising, canoeing, cycling, and air sports. Within each category are mini-games. So for example in the swordfighting area you can do duels, speed slice challenges, and showdown challenges. Most of the games are fine single player, but some do require multiplayer to work. As with most games of this type, different areas will appeal to different people. I know some friends who adore the golf area. I happen to adore the swordfighting challenges and the air challenges - i.e. flying an airplane around the entire island. That's the beauty of the large selection, that something is sure to appeal to different people in your household. The controls are easy to learn. You want to slash your sword? Just draw it down in front of you as if your Wiimote was an actual sword. These are games that anybody can pick up fairly quickly. Also, they're suitable for all ages. A grandparent and grandchild can have fun playing table tennis against each other. It's important to note that you need the Wii MotionPlus component to your WiiMote. Newer WiiMotes have this built in. Older WiiMotes had to have this plugged in as an add-on in their base. So be sure to check the WiiMotes you own to make sure they can handle the MotionPlus. Are there any down sides here? The games aren't very intricate. If you are a hard core golf fanatic and want to play realistic models of Pebble Beach, this probably isn't the game for you. But for what the game is intended to be, it's great. It's easy to play, fun to replay, and gets you up off the couch. Well recommended for all ages. Rating: 5/5 I purchased this game with my own funds in order to do this review.

Competition
Wii sports was a good showcase of the system. Resort takes that, flips it on its head, and gets you to have FUN with so much more control integration...but....there is an added level of competition here that is defiant throughout your resort vacation. Every game, imo, gets very, very competitive in a way that wii sports 1 never reached due to the basic who can waggle better (?). Prepare to sweat, prepare your curse words, prepare to be very angry at your oppenents!! Instead of listing what is bad and good, ill just list the games that are more or less ehhh Fencing seems great at first, and you are wowed by the coolness, however, after many matches against people of all skill levels - this game is NOT waggle-proof. The hardest wagglers (like my gf) will win almost all the time, no matter what skill level you are. A straight waggle fest dominates this game, which is a bit dissapointing. There is a defensive counter attack, but a very hard determined waggler can break through it! Wave Running - in theory cool, but keeping the boat going straight is an issue Canoeing - Cool, again, getting the boat on your intended course is difficult, when you switch sides to steer, sometimes the game does not recognize it, but wow WHAT A WORK OUT The rest of the games...are...AWESOME. The graphical presentation is up 10 fold, the subtle music is cool and not annoying, but the best are the signature Nintendo'd sound effects that make every game addicting and unique. I will conclude and say this is a MUST BUY by any means, whether you play alone or with friends, this game is so much fun, and highly competitive, with 2+ player modes abound, and different variations (playing against eachother, or, playing collectively, unlocking bonus modes/activities) For [...] bucks, cant beat it, and its a must have, with almost perfect controls in every game, a few games are a little lackluster, but still fun. Wii Sports Resort has made Wii Sports 1 into a game of SKILL, and your abilities in the game will be tested against your oppenents which makes for one heck of a competitive fun fest. Pure Nintendo, pure fun, and you will be sweating!!

Great sequel, but some flaws
This is a great sequel to Wii Sports, but it isn't perfect. Some of the games are really excellent, the MotionPlus is good technology, but some of the games suffer from lack of Wii Balance Board compatibility, and so much of the game is aimed at multiplayer that you'll need to buy a second MotionPlus addon to really get the full game experience. Finally, while many of these games are lots of fun, as exercise they're not quite to the same level that Wii Sports was, a little less physically demanding, and if you're seeking a workout you'll have to work harder to get one here than you did in the original. Swordplay: This is the best showcase of the Wii Motion Plus, and is probably the best mix of exercise and gameplay out of all the minigames. At the higher levels, there's a real sense of blocking and striking, you need to look for your opponent's openings and keep yourself guarded, and it achieves a real, "natural" sense of engaging in sport kendo swordplay. It's fun and engaging and you can play it for hours if you're so inclined. The Mystery Swing problem so present in Wii Boxing -- the sense that what you were doing with the controller bore only a vague relationship to what was happening in the game -- is completely gone; with the Wii Motion Plus, the "sword" follows your movements exactly and naturally, and you can execute precise swings at specific targets and from specific angles (in fact, you have to, at the higher competitive levels). The problem is that it just isn't as challenging a workout as Wii Boxing was. A half hour of wii boxing at "Pro" level would leave me in a sweat. A half hour of Wii Swordplay at the same level leaves me, well, maybe with stretched wrists. I had to get up into the 1500 skill range for the game to be challenging enough to count as excercise. All in all, great, exciting game, probably the star of the collection, but not as good a workout as Wii Boxing was in the original Wii Sports. There are two additional swordplay games besides the primary dueling mode, Speed Slice and Showdown. Speed Slice is a fun reaction time test but not much more than that. Showdown is the closest thing in here to a standard video game -- swarms of Mii Ninjas come at you and you have to cut them up while taking no more than three hits yourself. Wakeboarding: In this one, you swoop back and forth across the wake of a speedboat, riding a tethered board, and gain points for jumps and airtime. This game might be fun if you can master the controls, but holding the wii remote perfectly level enough so that I could "land flat" every time is a trick I have yet to master, probably because I spent the whole time I was playing this aggravated that I couldn't use the Wii Balance Board with it. I suppose they wanted to showcase Wii Motion Plus in every way possible, but this game would be a natural for the Wii Balance Board and the failure to include compatibility for it is a major, major flaw. Frisbee: The frisbee games are entertaining and take good advantage of Wii Motion Plus technology. The first is throwing a frisbee along a beach to a dog; the second is Frisbee Golf. In both, the game pays pretty close attention to your wrist angle, and pretty naturally simulates throwing a frisbee -- I'm bad at throwing a frisbee and I'm bad at this game too, for the same reasons! Archery: This may be the best game of skill on here. I was tempted to tape my wii controller and nunchuk to an old bow I have lying around, though, just to add a little physical exercise to the gameplay. Basketball:This is amusing, and gives a decent jumping workout. Like a lot of the other games on here, this is probably better as a multiplayer game than played by just one person. There's a timed free-throw game and a three-on-three (the three on three game allows only two players). Table Tennis: Ping-Pong on the beach. OK, this one is fun. The addition of WiiMotionPlus technology takes out almost all of the frustration of Wii Sports Tennis -- this is one of the real improvements of this version, and playing it quickly becomes very, very natural. I somewhat wish they'd had a "tennis" game instead of this, because I found myself leaping around the room less as I played this -- it feels so natural that you feel like you're playing on a small table, so there's a little less cardio work involved. But, still, lots of fun, and a very 'natural" effect -- great use of the MotionPlus technology. Golf: I've always hated Golf games, including the original Wii Sports golf, because they felt unnatural and weird and I could never get the controls to work right. All of those problems are gone in this version -- it actually feels like you're playing golf in your living room. I still don't like golf that much, but now I have to blame my own lack of skill, not the controller. Bowling: This is pretty much exactly like Wii Sports Bowling, with more precise ball control. At first I wasn't sure if there was any difference at all, but there is once you learn or remember what you're doing. There's also a 100-pin version, which in practice is just normal bowling with more pin-falling-over animations, and an "obstacle bowling' where little barriers slide across the lane and you have to curve the ball around them (basically Mini Golf Bowling). Power Cruising: Wii Jetski, essentially. This one, like Wakeboarding, had poor implementation of the controller. You have to hold the MotionPlus controller in an unnatural, awkward way. The gameplay itself is fun, but I again feel that the failure to include Wii Balance Board compatibility for this game was a major, major flaw -- the gameplay on this one is fun if you can get past the controller, and balance board functionality would've removed that problem. Canoeing: Paddling a canoe as fast as you can. Surprisingly to me at least, this one may be the best cardio workout of all the Sports Resort games. It's fun, but challenging enough physically that you get a fair bit of excercise playing it. Up to four players here, and you can race against each other. Cycling: I was expecting this one to be worthlessly silly but it was fairly entertaining. You wag your hands up and down to "pedal." Again, not really much of a workout, and silly, but fun enough. Air Sports: There's a free-fall game where you pose for pictures after jumping out of a plane, and a little waggle-the-controller-to-fly-a-plane thing that isn't a fitness game at all, but just flying around exploring. There is apparently a dogfight game, but it's two player ONLY, with no single player option at all. With only one MotionPlus addon, this felt like a category for minigames, not real games.

I love the cycling the best! (so far)
I'm an adult gamer who mostly plays PS3 games, but lately I have been spending all of my time playing the 2 new tennis games and Tiger Woods golf for the Wii. All 3 of those games are 5 star games IMO. I was hesitant about buying Wii Sports Resort (especially after spending money on the other 3), because I've been told that it isn't much fun as a one player game. I haven't gotten past the basketball or bicycling yet, because these 2 minigames are incredible. I usually ride my stationary bike when I play games, such as Wii Sports and Virtua Tennis 2009. The Sports Resort bicycling is an absolute joy to play while riding a stationary bike. It's Wii Fit's running with the hands essentially. Personally, I think Wii Fit's strongest game was running around the island, but now I can bike around the island. The game takes a lot of skill because you must refresh your energy by riding behind other bikers, and once your energy is refreshed you start pedaling as fast as you can until you run out of energy behind the next biker. The island is absolutely breathtaking and is as beautiful as the Wii Fit island. The other game I love is the basketball, and takes a lot of skill because the motion control is 1:1. The only disappointment with Wii Sports Resort is that with most Wii games, and that's an online mode. I would love to pickup a bicycle race and win a trophy against other real human players. I'm not sure there would be much of a market for that, but since this game sold so many copies, I think it might be a real possibility.

Sports Resort vs. Sport
When we purchased our Wii it came with Wii Sport, which we loved! We thought this would expound on those type of sports, which it does, but it should not include the same sports that are on Wii Sports, i.e., bowling and golfing. We loved throwing the frisbee to the little dogs (adorable) and watching 2 people try to push off the other from a tall pedestal is hilarious. Not watching the game, watching the 2 people play it! The skiiing is boring as is the repeat of other similar sports on the game. We did get hooked on golfing so purchased the Tiger Woods Season 7, now we're addicted to that one since the other seasons became more complicated and therefore, less fun. Wii Sport Resort is great for families playing it together or parties since the enjoyment is in watching the people play. Playing it by yourself, no fun at all. Also, don't purchase this for exercise like some of the other Wii Games, you will not get that value with this game.

Fun , Fun, Fun
A good fun package of games, which we are all exploring. The motion plus really does make the controller more sensitve and precise. However be warned that the motion plus is needed for all controllers. While majority of the games can be played by sharing a controller, if you are playing against each other you will need as many motion plus as you have players. Insert the disc and play right away, the onscreen instructions take you straight into the game, no need to read the instruction mannual. Graphics are colourful and detailed. While some games have no music this makes it more enjoyable as have the sound of boats, waves etc (ie. wake boarding) We enjoy swordplay, which can be very energegtic and a real stress buster, makes your arms ache. Cycling also gets your arms moving. Well worth the buying. If you have the wii fit game, if like me you have problems with the wii fit game freezing up and not responding on screen at same time as the wii controller, can tell you now that I have not had any problems at all with Sports Resort.

No Wii MotionPlus accessory
I'm buying this on Amazon.in. I believe all previous reviews were for other region. I had to return the product as the shipment did not carry Wii MotionPlus accessory as advertised. This is a bad first shopping experience with Amazon.in.

Fantastisch, unterhaltend, familientauglich
