Dayan Tabla, Sheesham Wood, Concert Quality, Tuneable To C Sharp (PDI-ACD)

Better than nothing, thank you Maharaja Musicals for making Indian musical instruments available online, we customers expect perfect instruments as per your promises, I ordered CH scale tunable tabla but you sent F sharp tuned tabla with many other flaws, Strip is too thin, Gajra is too high with F-sharp, can't be tuned to any other scale, I would like to request the seller to please provide only good items, “Bhala kisi ka kar na sako to bura kisi ka mat karna” don't waste money and time of music lovers, how will such a business last long?

They show perfect tablas in the pictures but this is what you get, the skin should be a bit higher than the edge so you are not cutting, scraping your fingers. Returned it once with notes and got another piece worse than the first one. I think these are rejects from the assembly line.

Fast shipping!Update: (June 15, 2020) I had to call Maharaja again to resolve some issues which surfaced after I had used the Dayan for a few weeks- and their Customer Service was fantastic! I got prompt responses to all my enquiries and the replacement was shipped promptly. You're in good hands here. My Tabla teacher was surprised at the quality. The grooves on the side were wide which helped the pegs stay in place. Stayed in tune for days at an end. Combined with their customer service I would highly recommend these folks. Will definitely buy more instruments from here.

I recently purchased a nice concert quality Tabla set from a music store and was interesting in getting a second Tabla for c# tuning. This Tabla was so inexpensive and easily returnable so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s not a bad instrument but not as described. With the obvious banding in the bass of the drum you could tell it wasn’t real sheesham wood. And even though the size was correct for c# tuning, the straps were not pulled tight enough from the manufacturer and I had to double strap the blocks right out of the box to get it up to pitch and it didn’t hold tune for long. The quality though is definitely worth the money and the sound is decent but if you need it to hold a c# you would have to untie a knot and pull the straps to re-tension them and you shouldn’t have to do that with a brand new tabla. I opted to return it and order a very professional level instrument for my second tabla. This is fine for a beginner and/or someone who wants a slightly lower tuning.

Very pleased with the quality of this Tabla (Dayan.) It came tuned between C# and D FIne tuning allows for both, it actually likes D better.. Was glad they sold the Dayan separately also. Would recommend this Company for a good tabla at a decent price.

The table came with a beautiful red ring and cover. It was properly tuned and sounds amazing! I was hesitant to buy a tabla online. However, it surpassed my expectations! Thank you Maharaja Musicals!

Overall, a good quality dahina for the price. The head, strapping and shell are all very good quality. The only bummer is that it wasn’t strung evenly, so a lifetime of tuning issues are in store for this drum unless I choose to remove all the strapping and restring it — a painful and laborious process. The rawhide circular ring on the bottom of the drum is too large for the shell base, so once the stringing process begins it got pulled unevenly to one side. This is a rookie mistake and makes it hard to get the drum perfectly in tune all around. Bummer.

Very good tabla quality and it was close to C-sharp as promised ! This is place holder review because i want to play and see how it goes more.
