You'll disolve the oil in the renew cleaning solution every time you wash it. The cleaning solution is flammable, indicating it contains a solvent, which is used to clean and displace water on the blades to prevent rusting. The design of the oil is the same. So don't use both. Beg to differ regarding the instructions, which offer no particular guidance in this regard -- the instructions I received anyway. Although, in fairness, the instructions are almost entirely pictures, so you could infer a lot of things there

Q: How much oil should be applied to the shaver head (foil)? Should it be rubbed on the top of the foil or just drip oil and wait awhile before using it

I sparingly run a bead of oil along both front and rear foil and one bead down the center between them. I use my index finger to spread the oil over the surfaces. Then turn on the shaver for about two seconds to spread on the underside. Then let it sit overnight with the foils facing up so any excess oil runs to the inside where it is beneficial.

Do you mean electric shaver? My husband uses it on his electric shaver... never tried it on an electric mixer.
