Although I find these a tad over priced, they are a HUGE hit with kids! My 5 year old grandson always feels like he has found the pirate's real treasure chest when he busts in to one of these. You open the gold tin box by using a key found on the outside. Next snap out the shovel or pik axe hidden in the top cover. Then chop away at the brown plastic on top. (Almost like digging in tbe dirt!). This process might require a little Mom or Grama help to poke through that first layer of dirt. But trust me once you bust through your child is going to arm wrestle you for that kiddie shovel or pick axe! It's like the migration of butterflies.... these kids know how to dig to the bottom of the chest to find the treasure. Fun times for kiddos with this one. Next they will be asking you... "Grama do you have the Gold coins?" Great stocking stuffer too. I plan to order more of these.

This was super cool! This is only the second one we have bought and we actually got the gold dipped (or gold plated) treasure. The layers of surprise and science are so cool and engaging. My son is engaged in the 'hunt' and discovery for about 10 minutes we use a craft tray for that part. Once he has discovered all the goodies I have him go wash his hands while I wash off the figures. Then it's time for imaginitive play that lasts hours and includes the whole family. Getting the gold really excited him and made me believe that these actually have gold treasure in some. This is a bargain ($8!) for something so cool!

Grandson loved this

Out of all the gifts my son got for X-mas, this was the first one he grabbed and said 'Dad let's do this together." He really enjoyed looking at the crest to see which guy he 'might' get. Then breaking the first layer to get to the blue rocks. Those were challenging enough to take him a little while to get through, but not so hard he couldn't do it like some of the other mining for item packages. Then neatly wrapped at the bottom was his guy, weapon and gem and a little bug (he didn't get the gold dipped much to his disappointment, but he understood). Good value for the money and I'll likely pick up a few more of these again for him.

Very awesome toy for it’s price!

I am very impressed by the quality of this product! First off we had a lot of fun as a family helping our son get all the pieces out. It felt more like an activity than a toy which is great and for me brings a sense of more value. It is packaged well to prevent breakage. The digging tool is super durable. All the items that could be damaged by the sand stuff are wrapped in plastic and the ooze has a screw on lid with moisture cap in it. We've already bought another because we enjoyed it so much!

Omg this thing is teeny tiny!! I had ordered it as a gift for another child, but it is so small I am embarrassed to gift it! We have ordered several other Treasure X toys and loved them - my 6yr old and 5yr old nephew had a blast with the alien and pirate ship. I’ll give this to my son as an Easter gift- I’m sure it’s a good toy, but it is so small that is lacks the “wow” factor as a gift for someone else.

My grandson was so excited to open and start digging for the surprise inside. He received as a gift for his birthday and all the kids were intrigued watching him search for the surprise inside. Other kids expressed how much they wanted one. Cool gift!
