Decent for brushes; great sound
This is a good head for brushes. I was hoping it would have a little rougher surface, but it seems that it will last longer as a brush head than coated heads which can lose their roughness if used for stick playing which smooths the head down. The sound is fantastic and I was able to tune it so that it would compliment the sound of my tom-toms when playing without snares. It gives a perfect sound for a drum solo when I'm changing dynamics a lot and trying to sound like a tympanist. I am looking forward to trying out the other heads in the Fiberskyn line and overall I feel that the sound from this head makes my snare drum sound better than ever before.

Beautiful and Excellent Sound Quality
I sanded down, polished the hardware, and re-stained an old 80's Pearl floor tom. I then ordered one of these as the batter head. It sounds great, very warm, rich, full, and thick sound, really bringing out the full breadth of the timbre that the drum can produce.I personally would go for another head with a little more light and dry sound for a studio recording setup, but I plan to use this drum for occasional drum circles or casual playing with some velvet mallets and I think the sound it produces will be perfect for that application. I would also consider this head great for concert percussion applications.

Remo Fiberskyn The Best
Excellent drum head and ideal for the jazz drummer. Smooth good locking finish is ideal for brushes and the head stays in tune. Another great feature is that it doesn't show dirt like other frosted heads will. Put them on my kit a few months ago and they still look like new.

Transforms a drum kit
Our sons drum kit is a Ludwig Accent starter kit. It's well made but came with cheep heads. After the original heads were spent we asked his drum instructor to recommend some good heads. On his advise we bought a mixed assortment of Remo heads. They are all wonderful sounding heads and this one is my favorite. The new heads transformed the kit from a boomy ringing tone to a very nice pro level sound. The Diplomat and Ambassador heads work great together. They have held up well. Highly recommended.

Good as real skin heads!
I’ve played many real skin drumheads, and will first say, there’s no real sonic magic to them. The Fiberskyns feel and sound as close to cowhide as anyone not in a close-miked setting would ever need. I like the Thins the best for sound and feel, so unless you want to shell out for real skin (and put up with the hassles), these should serve that niche well.

Good drumhead.
I started using Remo fiberskin long ago, about 40 years ago. I stopped using these because they were not very durable. Other than that, I really like the warm tone they give. I play mostly jazz and funk and I use brushes now and then, so this drumhead fits my style. About durability we'll see if after 40 years they improved it or not.

Love my drum!
Wonderful hand drumming experience. Ive come a long way using this fine piece, in confidence. Totally recommend. Price is right, too!Drum a little each day, just plain nonsense... and soon rhythms of your own materialize. Great fun and so relaxing.
