Excellent Solution for Smart Lights and Dumb Switches
I have Hue bulbs installed throughout my house, and I absolutely love them. However, my home is outfitted with standard wired switches in every room, which can cause a few issues. While voice control is convenient, flipping a light switch when entering a room often feels more natural. Unfortunately, when smart lights are connected to traditional switches, turning the switch off takes the bulbs offline. This makes them unavailable for voice commands, automations, or routines. Worse yet, it disrupts the flow of controlling all the lights in a room—turning the switch back on only reactivates the power, not the smart functionality. This dimmer solves that problem perfectly. It prevents the lights from being accidentally turned off while seamlessly integrating with the existing wall plate. The design is clean and simple, and the installation is straightforward. I explored alternatives like the Hue Dimmer Switch, but it presented a couple of challenges. Using it would require either adding a separate plate alongside my existing switch or rewiring the wall switch to tie the wires together and then installing the Hue Dimmer over it. Both options seemed cumbersome or overly invasive. In contrast, this dimmer offers a much cleaner and more practical solution. There’s also the Hue Wall Switch Module, which serves a similar purpose. However, it requires dismantling the wall switch and connecting wires to achieve functionality, making it more complex to install. Additionally, the Wall Switch Module only provides basic on/off functionality, whereas this Lutron switch offers multiple features, including dimming and switching between scenes. For me, the added versatility of this dimmer makes it the clear winner. If I have one complaint, it’s the price. While I believe the quality and functionality justify the cost, it becomes a bit painful when you need several of these switches throughout the house. A multi-pack—perhaps a 4-pack with a 20% discount—would make it much easier to outfit an entire home without breaking the bank. Overall, this dimmer is a fantastic solution for managing smart lights in a home with traditional switches. It simplifies lighting control, eliminates offline bulb errors, and offers more functionality than other options. While it’s an investment, the convenience and seamless integration make it well worth considering.

Easy and It Works!
We have a wall switch that controls six hue ceiling light bulbs in the kitchen. The problem is that we’re not always carrying our phones when we go in and out of the kitchen. And, guests don’t know the switch controls smart bulbs so they shut the lights off with the switch and then we have to flick it back on to control the lights with the app again. This Lutron dimmer switch is the perfect solution and it took only seconds to set it up. We can now control the lights from the wall without worrying about guests turning the switch off.

Smart Dimmer That Makes Forgetting the Switch a Thing of the Past
The clean white design blends right in with my wall and feels sturdier than a standard switch cover. Installation was a breeze plugged right into my Philips Hue Bridge without any fuss or weird glitches. I love how the knob lets me dim the lights smoothly, and the button press turns the light off without shutting down the smart features. No more accidentally flicking the switch and losing control over my smart bulbs, which was driving me crazy before. The customization options in the app let me fine-tune how the dimmer works, which is a nice bonus. I’m already planning to get two more to upgrade the other rooms in my house. Great color, simple setup, useful function, solid build, and real value all wrapped into one smart little device.

Easy setup and use but feels cheap and flimsy
I have been eyeing this switch for my hue setup for a while now as it is the only smart switch I know of that installs over an existing switch. I finally decided to buy it as I am tired of relying upon my voice for my lights. As for the Installation, it was very easy. The dimmer mount slides right over the existing wall switch, and it is secured into place with a metal bracket that applies pressure to the wall switch acting as a clamp. The point on the metal bracket does dig into the wall switch so you may notice a small mark after removal. Once the bracket is in place the dimmer itself snaps into place, concealing the wall switch entirely. Use is easy as well. Setup was a breeze in the Pillips Hue app and I was able to use it within minutes. The one feature that is missing is the ability to set multiple taps of the button, so you are limited to a simple on/off with a single lighting scene. The rotation of the dimmer is smooth and quickly changes the brightness of the lights. While the dimmer fulfills my requirements and I am happy with the end result, I worry greatly about the longevity of the product. The dimmer is plastic and the base is plastic but it does not feel like a strong plastic. I have accidentally swiped at the dimmer multiple times due to muscle memory of the previous switch, and I have knocked the dimmer off of the wall or disrupted the mount position each time. Pressing the button on the dimmer is also strange as the button does not depress parallel to the wall, there is always a slight slant or wiggle to the button. Overall I am happy with the purchase, I just hope I do not regret such an expensive switch if it breaks within a short while.

Works exactly as intended.
Does exactly what it's supposed to do. Good connectivity, easy to install and to add to the Hue eco system. We use it in our bathroom together with a Hue Motion Sensor. Because of this button, we can now set the motion sensor OFF timer for a bit longer, which acts as a failsafe should we forget to turn off the light. Its only flaw is that it feel very light and plasticy. It kinda wobbles when you press it, which makes it feel breakable. Do not use in kids rooms or in areas where kids like to crash around. Still very happy with it though.

Super easy!
I've tested several routes for smart lighting. Here is my take: 1. Philips Hue bulbs: Love the colors, especially for my daughter's room, but hated having to use Alexa or a phone to turn them on and off. This product solves that problem neatly, and is super easy to install! The end result is simple and functional. You can also group bulbs together and turn on/off all the lights in a room with one Lutron switch. But the downside of this solution is the cost: At $40-50 per bulb, plus the hub, plus the $30 for this Lutron switch, the overall solution is quite expensive (minimum $70 per fixture for one bulb and this switch, excluding the hub, but some fixtures use multiple bulbs so it goes up from there). 2. Plain (not smart) LED bulbs with a smart switch (I used GE Enbrighten): Offers the same smart capabilities (control with Alexa and your phone), same switch capabilities (on/off plus dimmer), and the cost is $40. This is considerably cheaper and works just as well, plus no batteries to replace. The only downside is no color bulbs. Given this experience, I will use the GE Enbrighten switches with plain LED bulbs in favor of this for rooms where I am not willing to spend the money for color. But I will stress that if you are already in the Philips Hue universe, I do feel this switch is easy to install, works perfectly, and is a reasonable cost on its own. The issue is it's only one piece of a bigger puzzle which has higher overall cost.

Excellent Solution To Prevent Hue Lights From Being Switched Off
I got one of these a while ago, just to see how well it worked. I only went with one due to the price, but it was so easy to install, and it worked so well! I have since bought another, and will continue to add more for each room with Hue lights. If you have Hue lights, you likely have had someone turn off the switch that controls the power to the light, and then needed to turn the switch back on in order to use the light with the app or other light control accessories. This is a phenomenal solution to this issue. With a quick install (five minutes or less), and then you have a functional dimmer switch that keeps others from turning the switch. The price concerned me initially, but when I started looking at other options for smart lighting switches, this is really no more expensive than other solutions. And since I already had invested in several Hue lights for my home, this was a perfect solution because it is designed to work with Hue. Another perk to this is that it isn't permanent, and it doesn't require any wiring. If you take Hue lights out of a room, then you can simply remove the Aurora and be back to a standard light switch and lights. And the Hue lights and Aurora dimmer switches can be used in another room, or even another home if you are moving. Great solution for renters, for those who already have a collection of Hue lights, and/or those who want a switch option that doesn't require any wiring.

Makes adding a smart light very easy and family approved.
Background: I originally wanted to not use a Philips Hue smart light bulb, and to instead replace the traditional dimmer switch in the wall with a smart dimmer switch (i.e. Lutron Caseta), however our old wiring didn't have a neutral wire, but instead two hots, so a smart light switch would not work. (I considered ripping the wall open, fishing some new wiring, patching the wall back together, mudding it, sanding it, mudding it, sanding it, then repainting.) Luckily I had the idea what about smart lightbulbs that are ALWAYS powered, we could shout at Alexa/Google to turn the light up and down. However, not having a physical switch is a non-starter. Then after finding this Lutron Aurora knob, which can mount over a simple light switch, it works absolutely perfectly. Lutron Aurora: The installation seemed daunting, it looked too simple to actually work. But, I spun a screwdriver a couple times, pressed to knob over top, and voila, it was a super easy install. Its also functionally a pretty good dimmer, user experience is good. You tap the button to turn the light on (white 100%) or off. You can also rotate the knob to adjust the dimmer (up or down). So, if you told Google/Alexa to "change to light to red at 50%", if you rotate the knob it will turn to 51% brightness red or 49% red. If I had more Philips Hue lightbulbs in the house I would definitely consider pairing each room with one of these. There's no "rules" of how to not use the lights, it just works.

A great device to ensure switches are locked on, and to allow anyone to easily use your Hue lights.
I admit that I would love to see these around the $20-30 mark, but at the end of the day, they are a product I'm happy to spend $50 for. When it comes to smart devices in a house, I absolutely love smart lights, but their usefulness tends to break down once you start to factor in other people. I'm happy to tinker with things and set customized routines and triggers without thinking of it, but what about family, friends, or guests? Its something new that they might only temporarily or rarely be exposed to, and the more removed it is from 'flip switch get light' the more annoyed people are likely to get. When it comes to convenience, I've played around with Philips Hue switches before because they get closer to the "standard light switch package", but I haven't found anything more directly effective than this. It first deals with the problem of 'how do people interact with lights' via allowing people to either press the switch to turn it on/off, and allows for people to control a dimmer feature via spinning the dial. But, more importantly, it locks operation of the light switch. I currently live in an apartment so I cannot connect or disconnect certain plugs from a switch, and there are times that I do not want a light switch to be operational - like, for example, if the switch connects to a plug that powers my computer or other devices I expect to stay on. Installation of this over a switch stops that switch from being fiddled with, while still letting easy control of lights. Even when you're not dealing with something that wants/assumes constant power, smart lights losing power can be a bit of a pain in the butt in the first place: Philips Hue has a 'power on' default now (thankfully), but I'm not sure about their competitors. It at least means that you're not going to have strange reactions when lights are powered on, but lights that are off will never respond to a remote command. Locking the switch on means that this isn't an issue, and the ease of operation by anyone who isn't even tech-inclined means that the switch being locked on won't be an issue.

Great solution for unique problems.
How many switches do you want? How much explaining do you want to do for your house sitter or family that comes over? If people roll their eyes at your smart bulb house, this is a great solution for plain white smart bulbs. Press to turn on and off, spin it on to start at lowest brightness. Great when you don't want MORE switches beside switches, or your wife likes to turn off all the conventional switches and mess with your grand scheme of a robot home. Over-priced at first, but honestly has made a world of difference for the one place i really needed this style of solution - the bathroom. No one wants to mess with stuff in a bathroom, but i also didn't want to be blinded every time i got up at night. More robust than i thought it would be, but I also wouldn't hit it with a hammer or a teenager.

Works as advertised
Unlike a few other reviewers, I do not have any problem with the build quality. The lights can be turned on/off with a tap -- this would feel a bit more natural if the entire button tapped in/out, rather than just the entire centre console (leaving a thin circle that does not tap). I do not know about battery life -- have not had it that long. The lag is comparable with say a smartphone app controller, about what I expect. In its default out-of-box config, it turns that lights to maximum brightness when tapped-out ... I think I would have preferred it to maintain the prior brightness level. Also would be nice to be able to play with the light temperature points - it seems to warm the light a bit as it dims, but more control would be nice. Possibly an app other than the default Philips Hue control app might let me do this (I am using the Lutron dimmer with a Hue hub). To connect to the Hue hub, I did have to do a couple hard resets on the Lutron dimmer. Not sure why, but this was easy enough and the initial connection was at least able to identify the Lutron dimmer and thus easily give me the reset instructions (it was connected, but would not control the lights it was supposed to control). All worked fine after a couple reconnects -- about par for any modern electronic device these days, it seems.

It does what it promised but a bit too expensive!!
The knobs work as expected, I did have some troubles installing 1 of them (I bought 2) but it was actually installing but not telling me that they were, so I kept resetting it for hours until I found out they were actually already paired, other than that, I do exactly what I need them to do, I’m taking 1 star because they are a bit too pricey for what they are.
