Excellent ink, does have learning curve.
I have used this ink for almost a year now and I loved it so much I bought a second bottle to keep at work. A few things to note are this is not your standard "run-of-the-mill" ink.1. It is lubricated so the benefit is that your nib will almost always write immediately and clearly without much priming, if at all. The "downside" of this is that it can be perceived to run more than other inks. You will need thicker or higher quality paper to prevent bleed or feathering, or just accept the fact that you will only be able to use one side of copy/legal pad paper. I personally use HP Premium 32lb Matte Finish paper which works fantastic and is only around $12 per 500 sheets. Any paper that is smooth and around 120gsm will do well with this ink.2. I would not describe this as a vibrant blue, though I would not describe it as pale or sickly either. My best description of this ink is that it is a muted blue. It looks pretty vibrant fresh from the nib, but as it dries it turns more muted. As long as you are ok with a muted color and willing to invest in decent paper then you may be interested in the additional pros below.1. Freeze resistant. This ink is designed for colder weather and climates. The upside is that you can take this outdoors in colder months to write with while camping or other things. Also, I have accidentally left my pen in the car overnight with temperatures in the teens and the ink did not freeze nor did my pen explode.2. Lubricated. Worth mentioning again because I was so happy when I did not have to lick the nib or have a small cup of water handy any more to get other inks flowing again.3. Quick drying. Of all the polar inks, and in my opinion the bulletproof inks as well, this ink dries the fastest. I measured its dry time to be about 3 seconds. Probably not quick enough for left handed writers, but quick enough to jot one last note down before closing the book without having to worry about the ink smearing.4. Bulletproof. This ink really is resistant to anything that could try to remove it and does not run when wet, once dried, that is. This is an excellent security benefit when writing checks or signing legal documents.5. Blue. I like blue. Also, I have known several lawyers who advise signing documents in blue inks because they copy well and being that many government copiers are monochrome, it is easy to tell which document is the original. In some areas of government it is necessary to bring an original document in for review and copies are unacceptable. This will make that process easier because they can tell it is an original just by witnessing that the ink is blue.If you are looking for an ink that has all the best practical features rolled into one, then this is your ink. I hope Noodler never stops making it. Enjoy!

Best all around ink.
I've used a lot of fountain pen ink over the years and find this to be the best all around. The blue is dark, but not too dark (using a black, or dark blue-black ink on laserjet prints doesn't stand out very well.) The properties of this ink UV resistant (Sharpie ink lasts about 5 years), permanent, waterproof (I can show you the wicked coffee stained Moleskin with every ink line unaffected) is good. The deal closer for Noodler's Polar Blue ink, for me, is it flows well and doesn't dry out or clog my fountain pens as much as other inks. It's dependable, reliable and low maintenance. I recently filled 390 A4 pages and two Moleskins over a few months, refilling two pens about every 4-5 days. During this period I fiddled around with my nibs, rinsing them, using dental floss (between the tines) 2-3 times max. I didn't even have any Windex which is what I use to clean out dried up fountain pens. I like the color, it's probably no one's favorite color, but it very well may be every fountain pen user's second or third choice. I'm ordering another two bottles, which are probably numbers 6 and 7 over the past ten years or so. I've used it on stub nibs, italic nibs (that use a lot of ink) and F and EF nibs which don't.

Good Ink
First, be very careful when opening the bottle. I had read that Noodler's inks were filled to the brim and this ink is no exception. They put in the bottle every last drop that would fit. If it were any more full, I wouldn't have been able to submerge the nib to fill my pen. Many inks look opaque black once they're loaded in a converter or clear pen body, but this one shows an interesting dark blue color. It really has some character when sloshing around in my TWSBI VAC 700. Depending where the air bubble is at, the ink appears to range from a dark, midnight blue to a cobalt blue. It's neat to see.The ink, on paper, is darker than my personal opinion of the "perfect" blue, but what really drew me to it is the "bulletproof" designation. While I'm no expert in "check washing" and other illegal activities, I did try washing this ink off the paper after the ink dried. Plain water is no match for this stuff, so I upped the ante with some rubbing alcohol. I figure if the isopropyl can get the ink off my fingers, surely it would get the ink off paper. The ink stayed intact without even a hint of fading or smearing. While rubbing the alcohol on the paper, I thought I was getting the ink off, but all I actually did was rub a hole into the paper. I'm inclined to believe the claims of being waterproof, bleach-proof, etc. It might go without saying that you do not want to spill any on clothing or other fabrics. This Polar Blue feathers and bleeds through the paper less than most other inks I've used, but two-sided use of the paper is still dicey. I'll have to try some it on some heavier bond paper and see how it does. All in all, this ink has my recommendation. I think the price is more than fair and certainly is competitive with other inks. The bulletproof qualities propel this ink into a league of its own and truly sets it apart from the rest.

First time noodler
First noodler's ink purchase. Bought it because the black pilot ink I was using didn't dry fast enough and streaks ink on the copier glass at work. This ink is dry before it hits the copier.

Super

good ink
thee bullet-proofness is as advertised, the drying time is the quickest ive seen. the drawbacks are high absorbency into thinner paper, and feathering. but it is expected for me, and users should be aware if this will break the deal for you
