It works, but not 100%. Flies don't always get zapped immediately and sometimes fly back out.
I'm satisfied with this device- it was low cost, it just plugs in and works, it is easy to use and easy to clean, and does kill the flies eventually. One nice feature is that the light that attracts the flies is a pleasant dim blue color, so it's not annoying to have it all all night in an unoccupied room, but it might be annoying in your bedroom. Also, it doesn't make a zap noise when it kills a bug, so that's also pleasant if you don't want to hear zapping. The problem with it is that the charge is pretty weak, so it doesn't kill flies right away, the dim light takes a long time to attract flies, and it is very easy for flies to escape out of the large gaps in the cage, so it really has to be on all night to catch and kill flies- and once a fly is inside, it might buzz around a lot before it gets killed, so the constant buzzing is a bit annoying, and it's very annoying that some flies can escape before they get zapped. I wound up just swatting a bunch of flies that the device didn't kill.

Made to plug in upside down
The item was larger than expected. It was 2 to 3 times the size of a normal small nightlight which is ok. The problem is that the way it is made it has to be plugged in upside down from the way you would plug in a nightlight due to placement of the widest prong. Due to the bug zapper’s size this was very problematic for me; as most of my outlets are either very close to floor or countertops; not leaving enough room to plug item in. Also, I found only 1 safe place to plug item in as you have to plug in out of reach of small children & pets. Also, is dangerous to plug in near water or high dust areas such as sink areas due to electrocution hazard. Please realize that unless you have very high wall outlets; you may have the same problem. There are smaller plug in bug zappers offered on Amazon which I plan to try. This product does seem to work but mine has only caught small gnats, moths & leafhoppers so far. However, it is not safe to place larger bug zappers indoors due to the UV light which can damage your eye’s retinas.

Catches bugs!
I bought this a few months ago because we have mosquitoes in the house. I have had the most success with it in my kids bathroom and our laundry room which both stay dark most of the day! I have emptied the cleaning tray many times and found mosquitoes, gnats, moths, and even a regular house fly. I do find that I have to turn off as many other lights in the house as possible at bedtime to get the best results (digital picture frames, room lights, etc). I'm happy enough that I am purchasing a second one so I can have it at both ends of our house. Only negative is I wish it had an on/off switch. I think it does most of its catching at night when it's the brightest thing on, so it would be nice to save energy during the day without unplugging the entire thing.

Does kill house flies
I have had this device for two weeks now and it seemed that it was not killing any bugs. Had a fly here and there that seemed uninterested in the light. I felt like I had been bitten by a 'no-see-um' a few times. I was going to write a review to complain of its uselessness. But, this morning, there was a fly and five - six of the little nits in the bottom trap. I guess it is a matter of finding the best location in your house/room. My only real complaint would be the size. But if it kills the bugs, i can live with that. Nice product.

Works but bulb goes out quickly
I have purchased 4 of these… the first two lasted about 6 months before the bulbs stopped working and the 2nd 2 only lasted 3 months. They work perfect when the bulbs are functioning just wished they would last longer

Worked great for a year
Bought this to put in the kitchen to kill fruit flies and it worked great! Stopped working after a year though. When I plug it in the red light on the top turns on but the UV part doesn't work anymore.

This is a good value for the money I Plug it in within a day no more flies
This is an extremely good value for the money very easy to clean very easy to use I took it out of the box plugged it in within an hour five or six flies already dead within 24 hours all the flyers in area were gone and I haven’t seen any flyers sense except in the fly trap and doesn’t make the zapping noise when it catches a fly I can’t believe how well this thing works if you’re thinking about buying one just go ahead and do it You will be very happy you did

Does really good job.
Kills most of the flying creatures, sometimes the bigger ones as well. I have indoor house plants and have fungal gnat issue but looks like it was able to solve that problem as I do not see much of them anymore. Obviously gnats are also gone because I am using mosquito bits and sticky ribbons as well but this definitely has helped the clever ones that have the trick to survive.
