A simply brilliant take on once great classic.
Meet the new Intellimouse pro, just like the old intellimouse only better in every single measurable way. From the moment you rip open the amazon packaging every step is a delight. Upon opening you are greated with a sturdy, well printed and 0 nonsense pain free packaging that both secures and cradles the mouse, The first thing you will notice is the weight, not too heavy, not too light. it sits perfectly in your palms, no claw grips here to be found. lavished in soft touch plastic, ruberized sides and rubber side switches the mouse is a delight to use. Both main buttons sit perfectly under your fingers and provide a pleasing yet not obnoxious *click* to every press. not too firm, not too soft and no mush to be found. Every keypress is simply a well orchestrated delight that provides you not only with confidence but clear positive feedback and breaking point of the click. what about the wheel? Lightly notched, firm and response with the same switch quality found all over the device. The cable is braided and non too firm and all the contacts on the usb side seem of stellar quality. and finally, the finish. a silver front fading to a pure white, a silver windows logo adorns the rear where you will also find the delightfully ungarish rgb lighting, not only does it avoid being obnoxious it can be set to be software dependant on colour. what else of the software? adjustable lift off, adjustable polling rate, adjustable rgb and general sensitivity, you don't even need to go fishing around on the web to find them. upon a connection to the pc windows will promptly recognize the mouse and ask if you would like to proceed with the install. simples. So that's it then. an old classic. only.... Brilliant.

Solid General Purpose Mouse
Great mouse, solid weight and ergonomics, lasted me about 4-5 years until the left click stopped registering. Be prepared for the scroll wheel to fail early; you can still use middle click, just not wheel up + down.

The legend is back, better than ever.
I've tried a lot of mice over the years, but none could quite match the perfect comfort, durability, simplicity and overall satisfaction of the legendary IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Until now. This mouse is a dream come true. It's that perfectly-shaped work of art from 2003, but reborn with modern technology and thoughtful, subtle improvements throughout. Microsoft made the wise decision to keep the exact same shape as the original, whilst improving the feel and responsiveness of the buttons, putting a state-of-the-art sensor in it, and making some nice improvements to the build quality (including a braided cable). It feels fantastic in the hand (as the original did), but bear in mind that this is a 'palm grip' design, whereas a lot of modern gaming mice are 'claw grip' designs. It's really light without feeling cheap because of how solid it feels. It glides effortlessly on the cloth mouse mat I have. I'm very impressed by its accuracy and overall performance for gaming and non-gaming tasks alike. The finish is stunning and looks so much better in the flesh, and the texture of every part has just the right amount of grip. It's just a joy to use. Finally, the configuration software, Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre, is simple and modern. Use it to customise the buttons, sensor and tail light. Change the light to red for that extra nostalgia factor. I haven't been this excited about a mouse in years.

Finally, a re-release that's just right!
I have been on the search for my perfect mouse for some time now. Notice I do say "my" perfect mouse, as I'm sure you'll understand, different people will have different requirements which fit the description of 'perfect'. I am not a gamer and use my computer for 3D CAD modelling and graphic design. My previous 'perfect' mouse was the Logitech MX518. Absolutely superb, however, this model is now discontinued and I'm not willing to pay the extortionate prices that you can find it selling for on a particular online auction site. Having owned a number of mice in the past 3-4 years, I would often find something that would detract from the experience. Wired or wireless made no issue to me, factors such as DPI and, ergonomics, quality of buttons, types of buttons, etc. were top of my list. I even found myself resorting to using technicoloured fluorescent glowing mice in order to experience the above factors, despite having always thought of adding unnecessary lights as a gimmicky. This product came along and I was anticipating it's release from when it was initially announced by Microsoft. I am pleased to say that it has indeed, lived up to my expectations. This is an excellent mouse! Very rarely do companies re-release a product and get it just right. I personally believe Microsoft has achieved this with the re-release of this mouse. The upgraded DPI, enhanced bluetrack technology and subtle white light. The quality of the buttons have increased to aid it's durability. I never actually owned the original Intellimouse, I did, however, use one for a work computer for a lengthy duration of time. Comparing this mouse to its original model, I am happy. For those of you that want a non-gimmicky, solid mouse that does the job of pointing device, then look no further.

Great mouse, lasts about 4 years
I got my original intellimouse in about 2004 and used it for 16 years. In a slight irony, the original only stopped working because the cable near the mouse frayed from friction on the desk; the mouse itself was fine. I've been using this version for about four years, and it's been excellent: comfortable, and reliable, but I've had two issues: recently the scroll wheel has become very sticky for about 1/4 of its rotation, which is really irritating. Upon disassembly, I found that the scroll wheel enclosure can't be opened, so I can't see the problem. I cleaned everything as thoroughly as I could but the problem persists. Secondly, the mouse does not work well on my matte black mouse pad, though other surfaces are fine. Overall good, but after the huge lifetime of my previous version this was a little disappointing.

[Long Read] The Fabled Intellimouse with a 2019 Refresh.
The Microsoft Intellimouse. Revered for it's shape and sensor technology back in the early PC gaming days. I'm too young to have known how good it was so when Microsoft refreshed it originally only being available in Asia and fellow, crazy mouse enthusiasts over on /r/mousereview were exporting it, I wondered what was so good about the mouse. Eventually Microsoft released it for sale in the Western hemisphere but it wasn't a purchase I planned on making until a day just browsing Amazon I realised it was on sale for near half price, I thought why not considering it's recommended for those with large hands (although I imagine it's still amazing in hand with smaller hands if you palm grip the mouse). It came, I unboxed it and when I properly gripped it, the first thought was that this is perfect for my hand. It's ergonomic shape doesn't cause any cramping or general uncomfortability. Just perfect for me. Sporting the 3389 sensor by Pixart, a near flawless sensor along with the 3360, there's no worries on the accuracy side. Capable of up to 10,000 DPI (although no need to go near that number even at higher resolutions, general range is 400-800). There is software for this mouse, "Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center" and easy google search should have you ready. In it, you can re-bind the side buttons, mouse-wheel, adjust the DPI and change the tail-light (although the options in this regard are very limited compared to other offerings). Any changes I believe are saved to memory in the internals. My only very very very small gripe from a perfect offering is that I wish it was a touch lighter, coming in at 100g~ which if you're familiar with the landscape of the gaming mice niche, is that there has been a 'revolution' of sorts in the direction of lighter mice, some coming at 80,70,60 and even in the 50 gram area. Some 'benefits' (as it's really personal perference) is less fatigue on your wrist allowing more 'consistent' performance over longer periods of playtime and less inertia allowing you to stop the mouse on a dime. Now, that isn't going to magically make you a better player but it's something were when you've tried it, it's hard to go back although shape is always the most important factor first and me coming from a Glorious Model O and G Wolves Skoll which weigh in at 65-70g is a big difference. Although this mice's weight is very balanced which makes it less noticeable so all in all, not a dealbreaker. This is a very worthy refresh of a beloved mouse and I can see why!
