Gerber EVO Multi-Tool [22-41771]

I bought this tool to replace a Gerber Suspension that I thought I had lost. Looking at the images and description, it was hard to see any difference, but I liked the Suspension so much that I thought I would 'upgrade' to the Evo. Well of course a few days after I got the Evo, somebody at work found my Suspension. So now that I can hold them side by side, I can't find any difference other than the outer case design. They are exactly the same size with exactly the same tools included. So is the Suspension a real bargain, or the Evo overpriced? Either way, I love this tool - I carry a full belt of tools with me at work, but I regularly pull out my Gerber 4 or 5 times a day for some task. The huge advantage of these tools is in having the various blades, etc. accessible when the tool is closed, as opposed to those brands that make you open the tool to get at the tool you need, then close the tool again to use it. So I would definitely recommend these tools, and I would buy this Evo in a minute if that's all I could get, but next time I'll probably go back to the Suspension if it's available.

my only knock on this pair is because it lacks a file like most gerbers and the phillips (prince and reed) driver is on the flat side which is also unusual. but the other tools are pretty nice and they definitely work on the job like my last one

The tool itself seems pretty solid, but I gave it 4 stars because the finish scratches off extremely easily, and the tools are quite difficult to deploy. I found that I needed to pull out the knife or saw first to be able to get the smaller tools out. Still a nice tool for the price, and the spring-opening pliers are very nice to have.

Excellent product! For 26 dollars its a steal. Similar Leatherman knives will cost you upwards of 60 dollars but this is less than half the price.Has a nice weight to it, 2 blades and a saw, scissors, 2 sizes of flat head and a Philips head. All made with great quality and lubrication. Bought this knife because a friend had it and i needed a good knife and this ones price vs performance ratio is through the roof.Would recommend big time.

Was a previous owner of the Gerber Suspension Multi-Plier. According to another reviewer /owner the only difference betweenthe EVO multi-tool & the Suspension, is its blades. The titanium coating. All in all, it is what i expected and the handle is blackcolored.

The tool is great! The only reason it did not get 5 stars is because it is a bit on the heavy side. Other than that it js great!

Had quite a few of these tools in that past. I always have one of these in my pocket on a job site as it's never my tool of choice but sometimes much more convenient than stopping what I'm doing and finding the right tool. A little stiff opening some of the accessories but I'm sure that'll loosen over time. Good feel in hand, good weight, and much better price than some competitors that don't offer a superior product.

After doing some research........The 22-41771 is different from the cheaper Suspension 22-01471 in 2 major ways1) The handle is Anodized Aluminium(22-41771) vs Steel(22-01471). Lighter2) The blade is titanium coated(22-41771) vs no coating(22-01471). More durable bladeDoes this justify a 40% price difference increase? I can't really say most people will notice a difference.

Needed a multi tool for my camera bag although I confess to using the bottle opener the most. This one does everything I need. It is extremely well made, very solid and weighty. It has 8 tools within the handles. I haven't used the serrated blades yet but the small scissor and screw drivers do their jobs well. Each of the tools locks into position when fully extended and can withstand a lot of force - I haven't had one slip or come unlocked. It does require both hands to close back the extended tool. One to push the slider which is quite stiff and not easy (hence 4 stars) and the other to move the tool.The handles fold over the pliers to make the whole tool quite small and compact. It comes with a canvas holder with a flip over top retained with a Velcro strip. This just sits in my bag but it does have a Belt loop if you want to carry it around on your person.It is a very good value product and unless I lose it I doubt I will ever need to buy a replacement.

Overall Good one. Only complaint is Scissors are bit blunt.

A good solid bit of kit. All tools lock in place and all do what they should do. Knife blade is very sharp, Cross head screwdriver looked like it would not be very good but I have used it several times on different size screws and it does work well. It was slightly larger than expected but that is a bonus as it is very solid and fits in the hand well. The holder being nylon is adequate, but how long it will last I don’t know, only time will tell. All in all good value and quality for the money.

I’ve used this product for several years now and have taken it everywhere I go. It’s very handy to have in a pinch when there’s something you need to cut or screw.Have taken it on numerous weekends away to Dartmoor and used it rain when I’ve needed to.The blade still has an edge and the grips still have teeth after all these years which is a plus.Only issue I can see is the scissors sometimes slip off the spring rail and then you fail to cut. Other than that great product to have, would recommend.

I bought this for my dad as a Christmas present and he loved it. It has plenty of different tools. Great for camping or keep it in your car in case of any emergency. He loves it. It's good value for your money.
