Very Helpful Activewear Sewing Techniques Book!
What a terrific resource for those who sew (or want to sew) their own professional-looking activewear as well as other knit garments. Be aware that this is not a book of patterns, but instead is a book of techniques for sewing activewear - full of all those things you wondered about how to do like getting seams that are stretchy enough, adding gussets to leggings patterns that lacked them, adding ready-to-wear type details, etc. All instructions and explanations are clear and concise, and they are all accompanied with helpful photographs. As I read, I found myself getting excited to sew some more activewear. I've already used the author's tips and advice to try (gasp) flatlocking on my serger and am very pleased with the results. Next, I plan to try the leggings waistband variations on a few pair of yoga leggings. I also enjoyed reading the interviews with some of the movers and shakers in the activewear sewing community.Rarely do I buy full-price books, but I am so glad I treated myself to this one. I am going to be returning to it again and again. (This is also my first purchase of an Amazon print-on-demand book, and the quality is very good. The colors are good, the text is crisp, and the binding feels like it will hold together well.)

Great resource
It can be so hard to find comprehensive information online regarding the use of sergers with stretchy knits. I was tired of piecemealing sewing information together and had been following her on social media for a while. This book answered many of my questions and gave great resources, some I knew about but many I did not.

EXCELLENT RESOURCE!
This is an excellent resource for people who sew active wear of any kind, or even comfortable clothes out of knits. The author has clearly put some thought into what people need to know, such as types of fabrics, recommended stitches for seams and hems, notions, and a whole slew of ways to add features: sleeves with thumb holes, fold over elastic, card pockets, ties and strings, ribbing, binding, altering waist bands, crotch gussets, and zipper pockets. The photos are helpful and of good quality and the author's writing style is clear and concise. If the price is putting you off, think of this book as a super high quality Craftsy class that you can keep referring to AND you can have access to the author through her Facebook group and her website. She is great about answering questions!

Exactly what I've been looking for
I've been sewing for 45 years. My skills have been handed down and self taught. I've bought bought several books on sewing stretch fabrics that are typically found in activewear, sportswear and casual clothing. I've been extremely disappointed because I'm trying to learn how to produce something that looks like it was professionally produced. All the books I've purchased until this one have assumed the seamstress lacks the skill, equipment or desire to produce something that doesn't look like grandma made it. This book explains the proper way to sew, Serge and or overlock your way to a professionally finished garment. It does give alternate methods for those that don't have all the toys but highlights the preferred stitch. This is exactly what I've been looking for I did send the other books back.

A brilliant book by an exceptional expert.
Johanna Lundsrtom has created an exceptional guide to sewing active wear. In this book there are a plethora of guides, tips and techniques from not only herself but from diverse group of (well known) sewing experts.I find this book to be very helpful.

Molto particolareggiato

A really useful book
This book is a great resource for anyone wishing to sew their own activewear. I've made about 4 pairs of Ninja leggings on a serger and sewing machine using the author's You Tube videos, but I still picked up some really useful extra tips on how to make them longer lasting and look more professional from applying the information in this book. Sure, you can get the information on-line, but personally I like to have this information in book form, at my fingertips (where I can add my own notes) rather than having to search the net every time. Lots of very clear, close-up colour pictures to accompany the explanation, which again, I prefer compared to the videos. OK, there are a few minor grammatical errors in the text but hey, English isn't the author's first language and since I wouldn't be able to write a book in English (leave alone another language) who am I to complain? This is a really good resource and I'm sure it will help me to build upon my skills in all sorts of garments (not just activewear). I'd also like to add that this paperback book is a lovely size and weigh, easy to handle and feels really nice to hold. Not sure what type of paper has been used for the cover and pages, but it feels as though quality products have been used to produce it.

Wonderful & easy to follow active wear sewing guide
Along with two other active wear sewing guides I ordered this book and, after flipping through all three of them, I decided to just keep this one.Today I read it cover to cover and I love it, it made my Sunday. There are no patterns or complete project included in this book, but I like exactly that. The book shows universal techniques that can be used for any project one may choose. It is perfectly structured and all the instructions come with on point photos and are wonderfully easy to follow. The instructions also include possible difficulties and provide solutions for them.My sewing machines have never seen spandex, mesh or softshell, as I have never sewn active wear (a few pairs of viscose-jersey lounge pants do not count), but I will definitely give it a try now. With this book I feel well equipped to succeed.
