Black and white publication. On line version is in color and easier to read.
What is for free in a pdf format on the NIJ web site is a much better version of this book. I didn't feel like filling a binder with almost three hundred pages of self printed material. I was disappointed in the book because it is a poorly printed reproduction of the online material. No color illustrations at all. Most of the illustrations in this bound format are difficult to discern. Especially in the Anatomy and Physiology chapters. The captions are difficult to read because color version has them printed in gray ink which doesn't reproduce very well at all in this text. The IAI ditched the old FBI Science of Fingerprints as a study book for this updated more academic/scientific material. The IAI also seems to grab most of the exam questions for its Latent Print Examiner Certification from this book.

I got is as I was taking a class on ...
I got is as I was taking a class on Friction Ridge Analysis at the time. When I got the book I was excited to see that it had information on the Laws and Regulations that I was having to write essay papers for the Friction Ridge Analysis class. Very helpful book for what I have used it for. I am sure that it will come in handy when I get further along in my Criminal Justice studies.

Good Read
Great read; I purchased this for a class, and it is a book I feel can be read and easily understood with and without a curriculum.

Ffingerprint Sourcebook
It hasn't been read yet. It is for my granddaughter who is in the Forensic Sci. class atHamline Univ. in St. Paul, Minnesota.I'm sure she will find it useful. It's one of the two books she requested. The other is the Fingerprint Dictionary, and I bought both of them for her.I'm sure they were recommended by her instructor.

Alright Purchase
I thought this was a very informative and interesting book which gives a look at fingerprint advancements and procedures from B.C. to near present day. Every paragraph is written with a thorough explanation, so it is an easily understandable book. This book is written by various authors per chapter at various points in time. Therefore, some chapters are probably more outdated than chapters written by other authors. If you are just starting to delve into information pertaining to fingerprints, this is a good book for you. However, this book should probably be supplemented with a more current book or scientific journal articles in order to get more specifics. All in all, it is an okay source and easy read.

Not Printed in Colour
This is printed in black and white which makes some of the diagrams useless.
