Converted from a 3x10 to a 1x10 and I Love It!
I was a little hesitant about switching to the 1x10 setup on my all mountain bike. I did a lot of research and still wasn't convinced whether a 2x10 or a 1x10 would be the way to go, but I found this for a great deal and I went for it. About me, I'm 6' 140Lbs and I ride all mountain. I was torn between the 170mm and the 175mm, but the 170mm has worked out great. The workmanship of this crank is top notch. The one I purchased came with a bottom bracket, although with my sealed setup I didn't use it.After a few rides I can say that I absolutely love this setup and won't go back. There are some modifications that I recommend when doing this setup however. The stock of this crankset is a 36T chain ring and I went to a 34T Race Face, which is great because the way they've setup the teeth the chain won't fall off. Going to the 34T chain ring gave me a slight edge in the uphills especially with the next upgrade.I got the XT (important) 10 speed cassette to replace my old one. The XT is setup to be able to remove a middle cog and add on a 42T cog. By doing this there is almost no hill that I can't climb. I still sit on my 36T cog on most hills, and then if I need an extra boost I can move up to the 42 ring.I enjoy the feeling of this solid crank on my bike. The Saint line is high performance and if you're looking for a single chain ring this is one of the best cranks out there.
