Works but...
I actually ordered this to use under a large planter and was part of a gift. The first one arrived dented and crushed on the sides. I did not even take the plastic off the outside and immediately returned it for an exchange. The second one arrived in time to be given as part of the gift, but when opened it too was dented in spots and one edge was bent over ( the outer box was not damaged with either shipment). It was too late to return it yet again and since it was doable for what I needed we decided to keep it.The metal is thin and easily bends. Would not consider buying another and do not really recommend this product.Gave it 3 stars because the seller was easy to work with and accept the return and exchange, otherwise I would have given it a 1 star

Code requirement in most States under a hot water tank.
NYS Code requirement underneath a hot water tank. The drain fitting allows at least 1/2” of water to remain in the pan in which the tank sits until it dries up.

Shipping issues
The product itself is fine. But they ship it in a clear plastic bag. It is waaay too flimsy to be shipped without a box around it. I'm surprised they aren't all returned like mine was.

Correct Pan Arrived Damaged.
The Camco aluminum pan arrived significantly damaged, I assume, in shipment. Aluminum is soft, and it did not survive the trip well packed in too large an unreinforced box with some wadded paper for packing. The box did not show any external damage, but the pan required significant body work to straighten it any where close to back to shape. It does not appear to have any cracks, so I hope it will work as intended for the next 8 years, or so.

Camco 20840 22" ID x 2" Aluminum Water Heater Drain Pan
The pan is exactly what I was looking for. Sturdy yet it had a little flex in case you need to squish it in just a little. I had to purchase a pvc cap for the spout else all the water would just have drained on the floor. The piece was available at the hardware store for a buck or two.

Poor packaging
This product was dented due to poor packaging but because it was to be used under a water heater I did not want to return it

Drain pan
This pan is perfectly adequate, although the aluminum is fairly thin and easy to bend, etc. On the other hand, it is easy to bend back, and it is going under the water heater, so who really cares? It comes with the gaskets and adapter for your drain pipe as well. Does what it is supposed to do, at a more than reasonable price.

A must have item for finished basements.
I live in a rural area and decided it was time to replace all my water treatment equipment and the water heater too. I bought smaller 1" drain pans for the water softener, iron treatment cylinder and salt tank. I wanted a 2" deep pan for the new water heater. I've had a tank leak before without a drain pain and the damage done was considerable. So now I have a pan under each appliance with an electronic water leak detector alarm included in each pan. With any luck my best laid plans will help me to avoid another catastrophe! I gave a 3 star rating because the 2" pan was heavily damaged in shipping. Several layers of bubble wrap and half a role of tape was not enough to prevent the pan from being crushed by other objects in the truck. Also made a real chore out of removing the packaging. Fortunately my background in sheet metal enabled me to dolly-out most of the damage and I was able to use the item in the end.

False advertising, wrong diameter shipped
Ordered it to use as a containment tray. I mistakenly didn't measure it assuming it was the 30" diameter one as advertised. I proceeded to use it for my project, painting it and adding drain holes. Realized it was wrong diameter after so can't return it and am out the purchase price. My mistake not measuring it first, but seller should be selling and shipping the proper product.

Met my expectations
Perfect!! My water tank has a 28" base. This 30" pan fits perfectly to collect both the water that could leak from the tank itself, but also to collect the water that could come from the overflow. To link it to the drain, I went to my local hardware store and bought a sump pomp flexible pipe. Fits perfectly and not expensive (8$ for a 10').I'm no longer worried about my 11 years old water tank :)
