Updated: July 18thUnfortunately, the laptop was too good to be true. Started lagging, freezing, updates took a long time to the point where I had to complete a system restore. Laptop is amazing, but getting it used wasn't the best idea. Called ASUS tech a couple of times. Now the real problem was sending it back. I paid UPS extra money to pick up the laptop the same day that I called. He came for 2 minutes and left. Had to call UPS multiple times to explain the situation and they put me on hold multiple times and forward me to different people to get a refund. Waiting on a bank statement. Also, Amazon and UPS seems to have Some miscommunication going on. Had to call to get the right return label and ended up walking to a UPS store. Returning the laptop was too hectic. Beware. All in all...will be sucking it up and buying a completely new laptop.Had to get a laptop since my last Toshiba hinges fell apart and classes were starting soon. Was so excited ever since I ordered the laptop. Came on time!!! One problem I've noticed is that it has been a little laggy, and I was wondering if it was because of the so so Wifi on campus, which is common, or because it hasn't updated. I would be a 5 star if the lagging wasn't happening. It is also a non touch screen laptop, which for some reason I overlooked. However, I never have the instinct to swipe the screen and I am loving Windows 8 lol .Even though I was initially looking for a touchscreen, I got over myself and realize I can do without. The sound is amazing! CD/DVD drive is a major plus considering the fact that I have an old Sims game that I have been dying to play. Most laptops these days don't have the CD/DVD drive anymore. Shame. The camera could be better, but my smartphone makes up for the lacking in that department. Overall, for the price I am in love! It's no Mac, but it get's the job done. I am writing the review and I got this laptop a couple of days ago. I will let you guys know more once school starts and I start lugging it around to class to give another review.

great laptop
I had an Asus laptop before and loved it - this one is no different. It does exactly what I want it to do. It's fast, the screen is clear and the keyboard is comfortable. I can't comment on the audio since I don't use it for that.

Failure Configuring Windows Updates
Like another reviewer, I'm stuck with the "Failure configuring Windows updates Reverting changes Do not turn off your computer". This is on a brand new laptop. The only change made since receiving it factory fresh are installing Chrome. I went to install Windows 8.1, since Windows 8 has no right being on a non-touchscreen device, and I got stuck waiting hours to see if this will eventually sort itself. It is taking a lot of restraint for me to not punch the screen, or throw this laptop out the window. New laptops should never cause frustration like this. It's absurd that I can't get a full refund for this. No one should have to spend this much time on a new piece of equipment to get it to function as intended. I spent less time setting up my new table saw and that weighed almost 300 pounds and none of the bolt holes lined up.Please don't read this review and think you'll be a lucky one that gets a good laptop. Do yourself a favor and buy something with any operating system other that Windows 8. Feel free to buy an Asus if you want. This is the first and last Asus product I'm buying.Edit: I worked with Microsoft customer support and they were unable to fix it. Even after performing a full formatting, I got the error again. Microsoft customer support told me the laptop is defective and advised that I return it. It took a little work to convince Adorama to accept a return but they eventually agreed for a full refund. Of course i used $93 in credit card rewards points to help pay for this, so that's $93 I'll never get back. At the end of the day, I'll have spent 10+ hours trying to get a new laptop to work, I'll have lost $93 in credit card rewards that I'll have to cover when I buy a different laptop, I'll have spent shipping fees to return this to Adorama, and I still won't have a working laptop, almost a month after I bought this one.I'd like to emphasize not to purchase anything from Asus.

Not as good as I had expected.
I thought that this computer would be perfect for me, 8 gigabits of RAM, 15.6 inch screen, AMD processors... but it was not that good. I am typing the report on it now, but I am going to return it later. it is laggy, and games that I want to play don't run fast. the internet is pretty good, but I really wanted it for the gaming.
