GlasGarten Bacter AE Micro Powder Water Additive for Shrimp Tanks CRS Bee Cherry (35g)

Excellent for keeping Neocaridina shrimp. I use about an eighth of the scoop about once a week in a 20 gallon to maintain/increase a healthy biofilm. In a new tank, I use a full scoop to create new biofilm. If you have floating plants and/or Java mossin your tank, they will rapidly multiply. This is the sign to stop using the powder. You’ll know you’ve used too much, if you start to see unwanted pests such as Hydra and planaria appear. You’ll know you’ve got it right when detritus worms appear. Just go slow. You can always add more, but you can’t take it away without a water change. In my experience, Neocaridina shrimp do not like major water changes. I have tanks filtered by plants only (both underwater and houseplants above), and this is an extremely important addition to my ecosystem. I am currently starting a 55 gallon with this powder. Really great stuff.

I have 12 Oto's in my 55 gallon tank and as they are wild caught fish with a high mortality rate I asked for advice from various groups I'm a member of on what I should feed them. Overwhelming response was to get Bacter AE so I did. I've been using it for about three weeks now and all of my Oto's are fat and happy. I've only lost one and that was before this arrived. My snails and Cory's seem to like it too. Everyone has come out of hiding. I highly recommend. Oh and it is not odorless once added to water. Be careful how much you use too! .

I'm looking forward to seeing if this convinces my shrimp there's enough food to breed!I read a lot of reviews for this product, and I figured out an easy way to get the product to move around the tank without clumping at all. I fill a shot glass with tank water, and add just a bit of the powder, then wait until it sinks in the glass. I stir it up with a pipette and use the pipette to squirt the pre-wetted powder into the areas I want it the most. The places I see the most vulnerable shrimp tend to hide in. It still moves all around the tank, but there's no clumping or filming issues that some people have reported. All in all, I'm very pleased! If there's anything else to report, I'll update this review.

My cherry shrimp absolutely love it!, hits make sure to use a small amount, I use about the end of a tooth pick for this size tank, too much will cause an amonia spike

My shrimps love this! Now that I have little babies in my tank, I feel confident they are getting nourishment fron this powder. Mixes easily in a cup with a lid so you can shake it up.

I've been using this for awhile and it has helped not only keeping my shrimp healthy, but also my otos.

BacterAE is good! I had a really hard time with neocaridina shrimp in my community tank because they wouldn’t eat supplemental food and are very sensitive in general. This food was my lifeline that kept them alive for months (I did miss feeding for 5 days and they did die). Unfortunately, I did have an algae bloom and notice hundreds of detritus worms while using BacterAE. Now that I’m not using it, they are gone and algae is low. It’s possible that I was overfeeding which caused the worms. I recommend that you learn exactly how to use this product before use if you don’t want detritus worms.

My shrimps go crazy for this. Only uses a little, dont use the measuring spoon that it came wirh.
