Glacier Glove Unisex Sonora Straw Hat | Lightweight Breathable Quick-Drying Wide-Brimmed Sun Hat with Adjustable Chin Strap

I wore this hat for a year of yard work, gardening, playing disc golf, and general outdoor activities and it has held up fantastically so far. If I look closely there are a few strands in the brim that look cracked but everything is still securely woven together and it doesn't seem to be in any danger of wearing out soon.My only complaint is the holes for the leather strip to pass through were not symmetrical - one side came down just in front of the ear and the other was more directly over my ear, making it feel like the hat is slightly askew despite it being on straight, wasn't too hard to get used to though.edit* April 2022 - After 3 years of use the hat has run out of life. A few months ago the leather strap started to pull through the brim on one side and now the rim has started to give out more completely. I wore it a quite a good bit and put it through some things, wore it in light rain occasionally, and often left it on my dashboard which I think all extra UV exposure accelerated its decline. Overall I was very happy with it

OK let me get my whine on first. They packed it in a huge box, so the brim wasn't damaged, BUT it was a 4"tall box so the crown was crushed.Here's the good news-it shaped back out rather easily, and only a few straws are bent at the vent holes. So, no biggy. The aforementioned vent holes are great. I am landscaping in Texas, so the vented top is a remarkable difference from the cotton boonie I was wearing. MUCH cooler. The 4" brim is an inch larger than the boonie, but not so big as to get in the way of driving, etc. and it hasn't flopped down around my head when I sweat. I wear a 7 3/4 hat, and the L/XL fits perfectly snug. The elastic headband in the hat is not too tight, and I have enough room to put a bandana on my head if need be. The crown of the hat looks kinda tall in the pic, but its not. It rides about as high as a standard straw cowboy hat, and it sits on your head just like the photo, right on the brow line. The only problem I really had was with the chin string. It has a bead to "tighten" it that is way loose. I just took the push-button style off of another hat and used it instead. Works great. Oh yeah, the band has a gold/orange GG on it instead of the little mountain shown, if that sort of thing bothers you.

Wore almost daily for 5 months. Got 4 complements on the hat that I can remember. Stood up to abuse in construction and landscaping. I even jumped in a lake with it and dunked it under the water. I would buy again. Only downsides are that over time it will break but that's expected from a straw hat. (But I found that that can be fairly stylish until it gets obsurd like mine by now.). Other downside is that you probably can't wash it and there's a little fabric strap on the inside that can soak up sweat. But then again without that little strap it would be scratching against your forehead.Edit.Just received a second I bought. That last one definitely aged. Either way, my favorite hat I have ever worn. And ps. 3 of the 4 complements were from strangers who just really liked the hat.

The hat arrived unsquished and unbent as expected after looking at user pictures. It is exactly what I was looking for, but the hat is larger than expected. Fortunately I also purchased "Zanyu 25 Pcs Hat Size Tape Self Adhesive,Hat Size Reducer High Density Foam Reducing Roll for Hats Caps" and was able to adjust the fit.

However, to me I ordered the hat based off the picture that I see at the time of my order, and it is kind of shorter smashed look to the hat, which is what I wanted. The hats that came are much taller and stiff. They are still a great hat, but not just like this picture. If you are ordering the hat because it looks less firm in the crown and lower, it is not. Just saying.

The hat is too large for my small head but with a thin strip of foam inserted inside it fits well and comfortable. The hat is well made is comfortable to mow in. The draw string adjustment bead is worthless. I took the draw string spring loaded adjuster from my old hat and put it on this hat and solved the loose adjustment. I would like the brim a little stiffer for windy days but it still works well even with some wind. I like the hat and would buy another when this one wears out. Price was great.

It did a great job of keeping indirect sunlight off my head, and the side vents helped a lot. The hat was physically comfortable on the head, but I still felt like I needed to work in the shade to stay comfy in mid-atlantic summer heat. I looked like a middle aged man when I wore this.

Arrived in beautiful condition. Very effective at shading the sun for yard work. I bought the L/XL and my head is between L and XL. The hat is slightly loose, but I can fix that by adding a strip of linen inside the headband. Nice hat.

Update... A year later, the hat saw some straw break close to the top of the hat over the course of a full season. Primary cause was me squeezing it too hard a number of times. If you're careful with the hat and don't squeeze/crush the straw then you shouldn't have this issue. Regardless of that, the hat was just as usable as when it was new a year ago. That is, until a tree branch flicked it off my head (I wasn't using the chin strap) as I was aerating the lawn and the hat ended up under my tow-behind plug aerator before I could stop. The straw definitely didn't do well in the encounter with multiple steel spikes! Good thing this hat is not expensive - got myself another one for this summer!This is an EXCELLENT straw hat for the price! It arrived in a giant box and was not folded/squished at all.The hat is made out of natural straw (none of that paper stuff!) that's actually surprisingly flexible at this price point. That said, brim of this hat is nice and wide yet is not "floppy" and can actually be formed a little bit.This hat is replacing my old straw hat from Cuba that started to fall apart after 5 years of gardening use. That hat has a very similar design (with vent holes, etc) but this new hat actually seems to allow for more air movement helping my head stay cooler under the bright sun.The fit of the hat is great - I'm right on the border of L&XL according to the size guide and the hat doesn't squish my head yet is reasonably secure on my it, so I can see both people with somewhat larger and smaller heads being able to wear it.All that said, this hat is still made out of straw so I wouldn't either fold this hat or force it into shapes it's not intended to be in for the fear of it breaking. Time will tell just how long this hat lasts, but at this price point it won't have to last long to justify its price!

Well made. Well priced. I only wish they would come in medium size too.
