Fairly accurate straight from the box. I was able to adjust it after using the salt cap method and I actually use this for checking my basement humidity level. To adjust, use a flat head screwdriver the size you'd use to adjust screws in eye glasses, for lack of the actual name of that size. This was the cheapest mechanical hygrometer I could find, I did not want another plastic battery reliant device in the house.

When trying to calibrate it, I found that the item was 17% off out of the box and the calibration screw in the back doesn't actually move the needle. The more I tried the screw, the more it felt like I was just going to break it. I resorted to just marking the 75% point and the acceptable range with a marker and have been successfully using it with this Kentucky windage method ever since but don't expect it to be accurate and don't expect to be able to calibrate it. It's a typical cheap chinese product and you get what you pay for.

Yeah, they say you can adjust but you can't actually zero this thing out. I used the salt technique to zero. It was 70% humidity based on another gauge I have. This one read 75%. Turning the screw only turns the spring assembly. The needle snaps right back to where it was.Otherwise it does show changes when the humidity changes. It's a good "ballpark estimate" gauge. I'll upgrade to a better gauge for my gun safe later. This one got me started.

First order for the hygrometer was disappointing. Hygrometer was way off and screw for calibration was not functional. Gave them a chance and requested a second one...same exact problem. At the same time I ordered a hygrometer and cigar cutter package...both worked perfectly right out of the box...and that hygrometer needed zero calibration.

Received the unit and it was calibrated straight out of the package. Tested with the salt cap method.Would recommend if looking for an analog unit.

I use this in conjunction with the digital version hygrometer for my humidors to check for accuracy and it seems these analogs are not as accurate as the digitals. There seems to be at least a 10 point difference between the two.

its beautiful, but when tested for accuracy was off by about 8%if you care about your cigars, spend another 20 bucks on top of this and get the boveda butler.

seems to work well. I bought this to place in my incubator that does not monitor humdity. I did not want a digital model as I just did not trust it.

Cheap Chinese crap
