## Description

Better to Have It — Especially the Real One. Darwin’s Grip wasn’t added to a trimmer. It corrected one. Inclined by design and balanced on purpose, this is the original extension handle system that changed how straight-shaft trimmers feel in your hands. The bend isn’t cosmetic. It shifts leverage, improves stance, and restores control where it belongs — with the operator. Professionals feel it immediately. Homeowners notice it before the first pass is finished. Clearer sightlines. Steadier control. Less fighting the tool. When the geometry changes, the work changes. Built from durable metal with a secure mounting system, Darwin’s Grip is engineered to hold its ground through the grind you’ve mastered. No seasonal shortcuts. No decorative plastic. Just deliberate design. Compatible with most standard straight-shaft string trimmers. Installation is straightforward. The difference is not. 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee. 2-Year bumper-to-bumper warranty on authentic Darwin’s Grip products. If it carries the logo, we stand behind it.

Review: You can’t go wrong with the original Trimmer extension. - Seriously, I read a few of these reviews and I just have to laugh and say that YOURE NOT DOING IT RIGHT! This is the year 2026 and where prices stablized after the inflation is what it is and the way it will always be. From now on, the rest of your life and will only get worse and worse as time passes. Thank Washington and the decades of stupidity and spending is why this item is above $60. Anyway, I have always used these. They are solid and lock positivity in place. Since all rubber and thin polys becomes more pliable over time (hence why you replace belts and hoses on your car) expect the grip to slip off. I would recommend a few drops of JB weld inside the grip if it becomes more of an issue. I promise you it will never happen again if you allow it to fully cure. So the quality. Fantastic. Fit and Function- outstanding. Does everything you can expect from Darwin Grips. Watch the video for the best installation tips. If used properly, your arms will be straight and your chest and shoulders will be squared with perfect posture. The result is less strain on your back and comfort the entire time you’re using it. No more hunching over. Yes, you can still edge as you used to using the existing factory grip. The performance part is actually cleaner jobs because the weed eater head is no at an incline and this alows a cleaner cut with out excessive balding around obstacles or scarring wooden fence posts. You absolutely have more control over the path of your trimmer. I mated mine this time (the G7) to a Stihl FS91R It’s a match made in heaven. Buy one! You will thank me . Don’t buy the Chinese junk. It is not the same.
Review: Works well for taller people using string trimmers - OVERVIEW: I'm 6'1" tall, and I use a Stihl FS91R trimmer. Prior to purchasing the "Darwin's Grip" handle, I had moved the D-handle all the way up, right next to the strap holder (after I'd cut away and discarded the plastic hand grip thing that came with 91R). Still, I found myself bending over more than I wished. So I went in search of a solution, and I found the "Darwin's Grip." I do a fair bit of string trimming per week: 10+ hours every week on a hilly, rock-strewn property in West Virginia. SUMMARY: after about six hours of mowing with the Darwin's Grip, I find it is definitely what it advertises to be: a way to remain standing more upright as I use the trimmer. It is definitely a positive addition to my FS91R. I rate this a 5-star product. INSTALLATION: not that challenging. I heeded the advice to avoid over-tightening the hex bolts. I snugged them down, but I did not crank hard on the bolts. It wasn't necessary: snugged down is all that's needed to hold the thing in place. POSITIONING: as others have noted, this will take some fiddling with to get it right for your preferences. For example, the pictures showed the handle on top of the trimmer shaft, at the "12 o'clock" position relative to shaft as you hold the trimmer. I found it more comfortable on my left arm (I'm right handed: I trigger with right and use my left on the handle) to rotate the whole assembly to the left so the handle is at about the 10:30 or 11 o'clock position. Just that little bit helped quite a bit. Expect the initial install to be an approximation, with fine-tuning of position to follow. Also, some "muscle memory" my need to be re-learned to use the new handle naturally. For me that took about an hour. QUALITY/WEIGHT: the whole assembly is very light weight, and I don't notice any difference with my FS91R (14lb machine) with this installed. It seems fairly sturdy, but I would not jerk on the handle, nor push down on it hard. With just normal pressures to control the trimmer this should be just fine. As others have noted, the weak spot in this is the toothed-swivel that allows adjustment of the handle up/down from the trimmer shaft. Again, normal pressures and it'll be fine; aggressive jerking, or pushing down hard would be a problem. VALUE FOR MONEY: the item is $70+ with tax, and at first blush that seems high. But in my early testing of this I've discovered two things: (1) my back is no longer fatigued; and (2) because my back is no longer fatigued, I take fewer pauses, which means my mowing gets done more quickly. Preliminary estimates has the time savings in the 20% to 30% range. So, for me, the $70+ expenses is forgotten, and now I'm enjoying the benefits.

## Features

- TRY IT. LIKE IT. KEEP IT. Go ahead. Use it. Abuse it. Trim the yard, the fence line, and that one patch that grows like it’s being paid. If Darwin’s Grip doesn’t improve the way you trim, send it back. No drama. No lectures. Just confidence in a tool designed to work differently.
- REAL ENGINEERING. NOT A STRAIGHT PIPE. Most extension handles are straight because straight is easy. The G7 isn’t straight because trimming isn’t. The inclined design changes leverage, balance, and clearance in a way a straight bar simply can’t.
- THE BEND CHANGES EVERYTHING The G7’s engineered incline shifts leverage forward and down, improving balance, control, and trimming precision.
- BUILT TO HOLD ITS GROUND. Metal construction. Secure mounting system. No seasonal plastic compromises. Built for the grind you’ve mastered.
- BUILT-IN CLEARANCE The offset handle creates space between your hands and fences, walls, landscaping, and other obstacles.
- WORK IN A MORE NATURAL POSITION The angled geometry helps you stand more upright and reduces the constant forward bend common with straight-shaft trimming.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work to attach to shovels and / rakes?**
A: Most cyclic quadrilateral shafts are ok. (round)

The trimmer shaft on the SRM 410X Echo is too big. A little wallowing out on the vise is required. 13/16 socket with adhesive sand paper(80GRIT) and bingo, perfect fit.

Also, the Echo P225 residential stick edger's shaft is too small so you will need to built up the girth. Hockey/Baseball Bat tape recommended.(cloth tape) Avoid plastic type tapes (duct tape, electrical tape, etc.)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product. Helps with posture.

Stating to like it. Takes a little bit to get it adjusted just right. I trim a .5 acre grave yard and tell it really helps my back. Not as sower.
