A knowledgeable Take on Heavy Mixing.
Written from a 'real world' author/engineer. Takes you to the neccessary places during the recording to mix, and finally mastering. To the point and within terms that matter to the particular elements involved. All the while keeping it simple and steering away from making it too technical. Keeping it fun and enjoyable. A must have in the reference guides in your collection regardless of your experience level. A great read and wonderful class.

I was stuck making some of the same mistakes over and over. This book was what I needed to get me moving in a better direction.
I have read plenty of books on similar topics that did not put it all together in a simple, understandable fashion. This book is a quick, easy read and great to keep to refer back to. It is tailored for heavier music, but the author explains where you may approach things differently in a different genre. I had some revelations about my approach after reading it. I have found that a lot of people writing these types of books either, do not have a successful music related resume and can back up what they are saying, or they do not have the ability to teach in a way that connects with the reader so they can fully understand what is being communicated. Jordan has plenty of videos on YouTube about recording and mixing, but for me, this was the glue that brought it all together.

Excellent Compact Handbook
An excellent, informative, compact handbook that covers everything you need to know in order to mix heavy metal music, without requiring all sorts of fancy, high-dollar plug-ins. Definitely a wonderful addition to any musician’s library!

Good advice for Metal home studio mixers
I had an hour to kill at the airport, and was looking for something interesting to read on my phone. This book has some good tips for the Metal home studio mixer. I thought I had read all the mixing and mastering books out there. Must have missed this one. Even if you already know what you are doing, this is worth a read.

Worth having on your table all the time
Very clear and refreshing book. Most of techniques are known to more advanced home recording studio person, nevertheless, information is very clear and concentrated, there are many useful tips revealed in very clear and systematic way. It is nice to have tips and advises for mixing Metal without superfluous information from vast worlds of other genres. I would easily call this book "Metal home recording studio" textbook, worth having on your table all the time. Buy it. It's nice, it's good.

It is ok book for beginner
The book presents quite well the basic knowledge about mixing in general, some useful information about heavy music as well. Nothing special, especially metal. If you want to be true mixing engineer and DEEPly understand the working philosophy, tools, only two book you will need is Mixing Secrets for Small Studio of Mike Senior, and "Mixing Concepts" (i dont remember author's name). Those two books can teach you to mix ANY music style.

Quality read
Great for anyone looking to gain some insight into making metal mixes sound better. I’ll likely need this beside me the next time I’m mixing music to take advantage of all the tips, but I’ve learned enough to start making what I record sound even better.

An Excellent book of pointers to get started.
I have been recording for a few years but the end product always sounded flat and lifeless. After reading this book and taking in what JV has to offer my mixes have improved greatly and I will be looking to get on some of his production courses.
