Maxxima MLN-10 LED Night Light with Dusk to Dawn Sensor (Pack of 4)

Almost two years ago, after several stubbed toes in the middle of the night, I purchased multiple sets of nightlights from Maxxima to light up the downstairs of my home. They were the Maxxima MLN-50 5 LED Night Light With Sensor (Pack of 2) and the Maxxima LED Night Light With White Lens (Pack Of 2). I chose them because not only were they affordable, but they got great reviews. Long story short, the best darn night lights I have ever used. Nearly two years later, they are still going STRONG. No busted LEDs, no problems with the light sensor. They work just as well as the day I got them.As my wife and I have been spending more time upstairs (we just had a baby), we found that the upstairs part of our home was terribly dark. As any parent can tell you, a newborn means you're waking up quite often. But after a few weeks of not being able to see well, I took the liberty of coming back to Amazon to look for more Maxxima night lights on Amazon. You see, I was just going to buy two packs of Maxxima LED Night Light With White Lens (Pack Of 2) (for a total of four night lights), but then saw the Maxxima MLN-10s (the ones I'm reviewing). Seeing how they already come in a pack of four, I opted for the MLN-10s because I would have saved $9 vs getting two packs of the others.As I expected, these nightlights are superb and are exactly what I was looking for. The 360 degree swivel head is a bonus feature that allows you to adjust the direction the nightlight emits light. The lights are very bright and because of that, I have the swivel head pointing down (light pointing down to the floor). My life jokes and says our hallway looks like an airport runway.Just like the other Maxxima lights I own, the color of these are "cool white" (meaning there is no "yellow-ish/warm color). If you know anything about light color temperature, the "cooler" you get, the more bluish it becomes. And just the opposite, the "warmer" you get, the more "yellow" the light becomes. Some people simply hate "cool white LEDs" and hopefully this helps you decide.The light sensor works just as I would have expected. I can't really tell you how they work, but if there is sufficient light in the room, the nightlights won't turn on. However, if they detect any kind of "darker setting" the LEDs will begin to light up brighter & brighter the darker the room gets. I tested this personally and with the window blinds down, there is some degree of light output (very minimal I might add). To some, some might feel angry because the life of the LED will be reduced by constantly being on but in reality, you're saving $$$ even with the LEDs partially lit vs an incandescent night light AND the life of a typical LED is 50,000 hours. Convert to years, that's approximately 5.7 years (2083 days). Honestly if my nightlights last that long, I have no qualms about buying another for $12 because for a set of two, divided by 2083 days, it will cost me 7 cents a month to run for another 5.7 years.Last but not least, please note that with any LED, no matter how good the quality, they WILL dim over time. LED Lights operate through semiconductors and though they do not get hot to the touch or melt the plastic bulbs they are often placed in, a small amount of heat is released. It is important to understand how this happens. Light is produced because electrons are energized when electricity is introduced to the diodes. These electrons travel from one material to the next, but must dispel their energy before the other material can accept them. It is this expulsion of energy that produces light in the form of photons and a small amount of heat. Over time, usually very long periods of time, the semiconductors will wear out and the lights will begin to dim. They do not burn out in the literal sense, yet they will dim in time. LEDs have a life rating before they die just like incandescents but unlike incandescents, as they reach the end of their life, they will completely dim. Incandescents will just blow out on you. Aside from that educational note, these LEDs are very high quality and there is very little dimming over the 2 years I've had them. The light they emit is still strong.A+ Product.

When my son was an infant, we found ourselves up all hours of the night. Because my wife has to have blindingly bright lights throughout the entire house, I refused to turn on lights when I would have to make the milk run to the kitchen. After a few stubbed toes and busted knees, and a ton of swearing under my breath, I decided to consult some guy friends on how they navigated this difficult terrain. One of my buddies recommended these night lights. Said they saved his life. So, going off of what he said alone, I made the purchase. Turned out, he was right.Pros:- The yield plenty of light. I placed one in our bedroom, one in the hallway, and two in our kitchen. I had no problem finding my way around afterwards.- You can angle when however you'd like. At first, I thought angling them up was the best solution, however, at 1am, they remind you of an officers flashlight in your face when you're in the backseat with your lady. Too traumatizing. So, I angled them down, and voila...no more parking ptsd.- They have a daylight sensor that actually works. We've purchase night lights in the past, and every time, the daylight sensor wouldn't work and our bulbs would run 24/7, eventually dying. But these lights actually turn off during the day (just make sure the sensor is pointed up.)- They're very affordable. They're fairly cheap to buy and they save you on electricity compared to normal night lights. Win win.Cons: Honestly, I love these lights and have no complaints whatsoever. Perhaps it's because I'm a cave man and this is miracle technology, but none-the-less, I'm happy I made the purchase.My son is now 17 months old, and I still have these lights running throughout the house. Once you get used to a lit path, you'll never go back to the dark ages. If you're looking for good, reliable night lights that you can adjust, then I would highly recommend this set!

I waited for a long time to review these. i wanted to see if they would break or fail after a few weeks or months. They have not.In my opinion it is worth the extra few dollars to pay for the rotating head piece. These do swivel freely and without issue.They are very bright at night so the slightly downward facing light doesn't directly blind you in the middle of the night.Also you can project the light in a certain direction if you wish to illuminate all sorts of places in your room.I have not had any issues with the light sensor getting confused or simply not turning on.I purchased this pack of four and none have failed after a year or so of use.**Update** Many months later the original purchased lights are still doing well. As indicated in my title to this review, I did purchase more. Much to my surprise, I noticed that the existing ones were dimmer than the new ones. Do these slightly dim over time? Apparently so as all new ones are noticeably brighter than the older ones I had. That is not to say that the older ones are not bright. They are, just not quite as much. More interesting than annoying or inconvenient.I have learned one important piece of information. If you plug the light in upside down, it will be very dim. Try flipping it around if you experience this. I thought one was going bad, but not so. Since you can swivel the light all the way around, you can't necessarily tell if it's upside down or not.
