Where was this when I was a young soldier?
This is hands down the best sling I've ever used for the AR platform - and I've used a ton of different ones, from simple web slings to complicated Magpula and a few others too. I had an original VTAC sling, and I liked the functionality of it. This sling is wider and has padding where it counts. If you carry a rifle for at least 4 hours a days, then you'll definitely appreciate the extra comfort. The functionality has also improved with the new pull tabs. This ain't your hunting rifle sling or an average $15 GI issue web sling. You'll want to spend some time getting this adjusted properly. I'm 6' and 180 pounds and even with body armor on, this sling was big enough on me out of the bag to wrap around me and my missus too. Once the fit is taken care of, spend a little more time learning how to effectively work it for daily use. Hint: The printed directions suck. No, I mean they SUCK! VTAC has a YouTube video on it, and there are other videos that are worth a couple minutes of your time. I invested about 15 minutes of time making sure I could loosen it and shoulder my rifle quickly, and that just as quickly I could drop my rifle and tighten it to my body without racking myself in the n**sack. It's just as easy to shift your rifle around to your back if you need to be on your knees or rappelling or whatever. I can't recommend this sling enough, whether you're a warfighter, a police officer, or just a guy who enjoys using your rifle.

This is what you want
This is what you want for your fighting rifle. I've used a lot of slings, and this one keeps staying on top. Take the time to set it up properly and you will not be disappointed.

Not for me
Returned the sling. Too long and plastic buckles are a no go.
