Solid Reclaimed Wood Desk, 2" Extra Thick, Real Wood

As a lot of people, I needed a desk to work from home. Although in the past I've worked at my dining table, I needed a dedicated spot for working for 8 hours a day for several weeks. I wanted a reclaimed wood desk but many were too "busy" looking or too expensive. I saw this desk and immediately bought it. The desk came in two shipments (legs then top) within days of each other and was easy to assemble by myself with just a screwdriver. There is a strong smell due to the gloss finish, but it's dissipating. My only complaint, and this is just a personal taste, is that I wished it weren't as beautiful as it is - I like the reclaimed wood look and would have liked it to be more "beat up" and not as glossy. But, again, that's a personal preference, and I think the finish will hold up better as a desktop anyway. All in all, I'm satisfied with the workmanship, the beauty of the desk, and the price. I'd recommend this desk to anyone.

I was in pretty active communication with the Umbuzo folks after seeing this, and after ordering. They were top notch, fast to respond and extremely helpful. Word to the wise, the screws are self-driving.The finish is beautiful, it's a solid piece and not absurdly heavy. You can choose leg placement, the instructions are understandably brief.Myself, I am bad at building things. Even simple things. Like, literally, screw legs onto desktop. I may have drilled to the top of the wood, and caused a little damage. I followed up with Umbuzo about the instructions, since it had said only a screwdriver was needed.And that was true.My bad. Umbuzo offered to issue a partial refund, which I declined. The workmanship had not failed, the assembler failed the workmanship.Fantastic piece of furniture. I know where I want to get my dining room table when it's time.

It's a very well done piece. I didn't see any drips or anthing on the underside of the desk that had been mentioned on other reviews. It came nicely packaged ( in two different boxes) and it has great character. I would recommend this for someone looking for a simple, beautiful desk.

The table looks nice, but the odor of the coating (water based polyurethane - per the seller) is still strong after leaving it outside in fresh air for a month. After some research online - saw that water based polyurethane is still toxic (vs. oil based) so I've decided to get rid of the table.Four stars for looks, but reduced to 2 because of the odor.

This desk was just what I wanted - not mundane, but good wood stock with character.Finish is in a high sheen (you smell it at first, but it airs out quickly), and surface is not perfectly smooth across the top due to the raw plank characteristics. I had to turn desk around to the other side for my keyboard tray to operate better (kept sliding closed on it's own).Assembly was easy with these type of legs and it sits flat & level on the ground. Legs already come with high quality feet/pads, so could put on the hardwood if I wanted.Give it 4 stars since it's not as level across the top as it could be. Very happy with the aesthetics.

I really wanted to love this product, but I really can’t.The first table arrived and it was chipped, creating a sharp edge deeming it unusable. I let the company know and they sent out another table (shipping company’s fault). Second one arrived in perfect shape without any defects. It has been sitting in my office unused for the past 2 weeks and I noticed yesterday that it’s starting to crack creating sharp edges - where the pieces of wood connect to each other. I guess these desks just aren’t as good as I thought and I’ll just live with it. It’s surprising seeing that I paid over six hundred dollars for this. Buy at your discretion.A year or so latter… and the desk is just falling apart. Sharp edges wood pieces are cracking. I do not recommend buying this. Get something else or buy from ikea

Ran into some shipping problems and with failed attempts to work with the shipping company to get a resolution, contacted UMBUZO and they immediately took action to resolve the issue and the desk arrived the next day. The desk itself is exactly what I expected and exactly what I wanted. An oversized surface for both my work and home spaces with plenty of room to spare to see the beautiful wood. Both the legs and the surface are quite heavy and very thick, and quite immovable when put together without a decent amount of force. Exactly the way a quality desk should be.

One of my friends ordered this a few months ago. When mine arrived, however, the finish was a bit sloppy on one side. There were spots where the finish was missing. The annoying part looks like there was some of the glue from the clamping of the sections that wasn't cleaned off before the worker applied the finish. It has a spot of bare wood! ( see pic #3)Unfortunately, you can't see these defects until you unwrap the desk. I needed the desk and couldn't even think of repacking it to return for a cleaner surface.The vendor did a fantastic job of packaging and protecting the wood. That isn't in doubt. There are no scratches or gouges. The finish was just poor in a couple of spots. :( I shall be contacting the vendor. This was a $870 desk delivered. That surface should be perfect! It wasn't.
