What is the purpose of the blunt knife?

If you are not cleaning fish, where you need to open fish's belly to gut it, there are very few uses for a sharp tip underwater. You are not going to be using it for stabbing. You use the edges to cut lines, and do not usually need a tip. And since a sharp tip has dangers, eg you could readily damage a BCD, a number of divers prefer blunt tip. I breath hold spearfish and clean fish. so the non serrated edge is important for scaling and gilling, the tip for opening, and serrated for cutting line. but I do not need a pummel to strike my tank to signal a buddy -- since I have no tank. Each diver has a need for different features.

Does it Come with elastic straps to connect to thighs?

Is the knife sharp when it arrives?

The smooth blade of the knife was disappointingly dull when received. Took a lot of effort to get it sharp. Otherwise, the knife is good quality and the serrated side requires no work.
