Review: Early review: Thumbs up👍👍 - this reviews probably a little early but I am very happy with them so far. I have a very narrow foot. It is very difficult for me to buy shoes that fit. These came in a B- width, and they fit really well. I can wear in a width and some shoes, so I do not know if they run a little more narrow but they feel great on my feet. They are not too stiff like some hiking boots have had. They seem very durable and well-made. The weird part is you cannot buy them directly from Dunn Hill because they do not have any stock and the size that I needed but I was able to get them directly from desertcart from their online store which I do not quite understand but I am glad I was able to. I like the appearance. They seem to have great traction. They have great toe box protection. They seem like they would function great for both hiking and just as a general "low top" work boot. They come in standard width and extra- wide too, but if you have a narrow foot, you should take a look at these if you can get them in a B-width Review: Perfect fit, awesome quality. - I am 215 lbs with hard to fit feet (13 4E) and I love hiking. An injury to my lower leg left me with permanent nerve damage and a challenge to find orthotics and footwear for the past 40 years or so. These boots are amazing in fit and quality. I purchased a pair in May of 2017 and tested them out around town. These are the kind of shoes that when you slip your foot into for the first time you know right away that they are "the ones". Subsequent hikes in the Oregon and Washington Cascades gave me the confidence to take them on treks in the Alps and Himalayas. Carried a twenty pound pack on steep up and downhills are no problem. No blisters ever. The insoles that they came with slip out and I can use my custom orthotics instead. The lacing is quick and logical and allows one to adjust tension for up or down hill. I wear merino wool socks with a thin liner over. A sock company in New England makes the best socks on the planet. Good match for these boots. With several hundred miles of trails on these there is no sign of any wear or degradation. The soles are not overly aggressive but provide excellent grip on rock and dry trails. The tread does not hold dirt or mud and self cleans. On very muddy or slippery trails one may want a boot with more lugs. The waterproofness worked for awhile stepping through water several inches deep but eventually this feature broke down slightly as can be expected with the abuse I gave these on the trails. They are also very good looking and can be worn around town. I really appreciate shoe makers who cater to the ends of the bell curve on foot size. Have been a New Balance fan for years for this reason. Also own New Balance 990 V4. Fantastic shoe that I will review as well. One other thing. I found out that boot laces become imbedded with grime which causes friction through the lace lugs making it difficult to adjust the lace tension. A new pair of laces for about two dollars in a shop in Kathmandu was like having a new set of tires. I washed the old pair and kept them in my pack as a spare. All in all would definitely buy another pair but I don't think I can wear these out.

Can't recommend enough.
These boots are made of sturdy leather. They feel as though they will last for a long time. I walk on blacktop all day and lately my knees have been getting very sore. I purchased these boots because they are available in a 4E width. They feel just a little wider than most brands, but not a problem as I purchased them for early spring late fall wear and will be using a medium weight wool sock. My feet/knees only feel better when wearing sneakers. They are extremely comfortable. I have a high arch, high instep, 4E toes, with a narrow heel. This is thte first pair of boots/shoes that I have been able to cinch the heel in tight, as most shoes cut in to the top of my foot when cinched down. These boots have a high instep, wide toe box and tight heel area. Usually, my feet are throbbing if I tighten the laces too much, so I am inclined to where my boots loose which when hiking leads to blisters. In the past, blisters have been the better alternative to throbbing feet. We're talking being able to feel my pulse in my knees. I'm using this pair for work and plan to purchase a second pair for hiking this summer. These are a light hiker. They do not have an aggressive tread. I have an old pair of New Balance 1500 series hikers that are more of a light mountaineering boot. Unfortunately they no longer make this boot. I really liked them for summer boulder hopping. I contacted New Balance and this is the best alternative. They are a great boot, just not in the same category as the 1500. I had meniscus surgery last summer and still a little paranoid about my knees, but so far I can wear these boots all day and my knees and feet feel great.

For fit, the jury is still out....
So, I have a wide foot, yet not a big foot, so I came searching here for any hiking solution that caters to my "pork chop" feet, haha. Local stores don't carry any options, which leaves to me hit and miss online hunting. I tried some lower cost Skechers, to no avail, so I thought I'd spend a bit more and see what that brings. I'm wearing them at present, to see if I can break them in enough to try on an extended hike. Oddly, the heel area is a bit too wide, yet the area across the the widest part of my foot doesn't fit, at all, like a true "wide" shoe. It's very tight. So, I deployed my shoe stretchers last night, and, by this morning, they were widened enough to wear without discomfort, but I wish they felt as perfect as the many reviews I read on here. The heel is not so wide to cause slippage, and the area across the "chest" of the foot (where the toes start) is not tight enough to cause pain (after using the shoe stretchers for 12 hours) so, no deal breakers as yet, although I had to take out the insoles they came with, to allow for a better fit. With the insoles, they really are too tight. So, I replaced them with the cut-to-fit Dr. Scholl's insoles. The exterior soles seem quite grippy and should serve for basic hiking needs, and I am not seeing any issues with manufacturing defects or anything, so I'm assuming they will be waterproof as advertised. I will update back here once I've worn them for a few days, and, hopefully, they work out enough to test for a day of hiking, since I have no hiking footwear at the moment. I'm disappointed in the fit, however. The too-wide heel area and too-narrow front area is a frustration. I'm hoping I can "wear them in" so it's not a waste of 140 bucks. Glad I invested in the shoe stretchers. This will be yet another pair of shoes saved by being able to widen them out, if these wind up being okay. I do like how lightweight they are and, thus far, just wearing them to work, they are not feeling too hot, so, if they don't cause foot pain, they seem like a win. They also look great. So, I really want to like them, which means I'm giving them a chance. Wish me luck! Hope this helps. Thanks for reading. :)

FINALLY! footware that doesn't fall apart apart 6 months of daily and intense using! wow!
first pair i had, loved so much. bought at discount place, but started to love the look, and the duribility is FINALLY what i have been looking for for decades! uh! you know what i mean! shoes, boots, at least the common price point ones, around $100, were such disappointing JUNK for as long as i can remember. but not these. wow. i am a carpenter. and used these boots every day, working hard, for over 1.5 years before FINALLY the leather tore a small hole on one side, where it connects to the upper rubber. but love em. layers of leather, which IS ACTUALLY waterproof! couldn't believe it. not crazy waterproof, but stepping in and OUT of inches of water, after which i would wait for that little wetness to reach my feet, and it never did. never. nice job! excellent stitching and glues and construction. now, grated this is the first pair of $150ish pair of footware i have ever used, so maybe ALL footware is made this well at this price point. could be. but anyway, THESE boots ARE made very well. AND comfortable. they never "broke down" inside, and really felt supportive even after 1.5 years. BUT, i DO use TWO pairs of insert insoles, or whatever, cause i'm on my feet all day, but still, hell of a boot. BUY from this company. i dont like footware made in china. NEVER had a quality pair of nikes or adidus or other, made from china. dont care about china either way, just came to expect crap. but these boots ARE also made in china, which really blows my mind, good to see a quality product that doesnt fall apart right away thats made in china.

didn't work for me
I was going on a 4-night backpacking trip in Iceland and have been searching for wide hiking shoes. I bought this and was happy with the fit. The wide width was good. My toes didn't feel smushed. Waterproofing held up good. Would have been my go-to shoes, however, the shoes started digging into the back of my ankle, right above the ball of my heel. After 4 days of hiking, I end up trashing it once I got back to town. Whenever, I tightened up the laces, the shoes will dig into the back of my heel. It took skin off and end up scabbing over. If I didn't tighten my laces, the shoes felt fine but it was too loose and my feet would slid around. There is a seam in the shoes where my scabs are so don't know if that's the cause of it. Or the shape of the shoes to accommodate the ball of heel. Happened more in my left foot than right. Overall, it was great except for the digging in the skin part. Might work for you so I'd say still give it a try. But I trashed it and my search for wide hiking shoes continue.

Fits well, but break it in
The fit is what really makes this boot a standout, but sizing was an issue as other commenters noted. I normally fit into 13 extra wide sneaker and casual shoe. With the Dunham Cloud boot, I went up a size, because I fit more comfortably into a 14 4E over a 13 4E (I ordered both for just such a situation and sent back the unused pair). I found the boot to be cushioned and form fitting in all the right places. The metal eyelets held the shoe laces securely and the waterproofing seemed to function properly in occasional misting--although gaiters are a recommended accessory. Ankle support was adequate and the texture of the boot's sole seemed to assist with stability. I took the boots with me to Peru on a multi-day trek. I walked 9 miles around Lima on day one, but did not break in the boots in any other way. During this time, I noticed the padding on the boot's tongue did seem obtrusive at first, but gradually it became unnoticeable. Once in the Andes mountains, flats and inclines were fine, but after about 8 miles, descents began to cause me pain due to newly formed blisters on the underside of my feet. Day three brought bruised toes and blisters on my toes. The blisters were probably from persistent friction, and the bruises were likely from forward movement of my foot inside the boot. Both could probably have been prevented with the right socks and breaking in the boots beforehand. Bottom line: It is an exceptional find to locate a shoe that is both large & wide. In spite of the issues I experienced, due to my rush to use the boots for my trek, the boot works and fits fine. I will use it for less demanding day hikes until it is broken in.
