If I Built a House (If I Built Series)

Bought to read to a 1st grade class - they stayed engaged and really seemed to enjoy the story. And it had great illustrations too. Worked perfectly for the little STEM activity we planned - read this book and followed up with a tower building challenge using just solo cups. Teachers and kids loved it!

Always love Chris Van Dusen books, fun easy reads that spark the imagination we have a few and have borrowed others from the library

My children LOVE this book. The illustrations are creative, unique, and fun. The author uses rhyming to tell the story. It is a family favorite and I don't get bored reading it over and over again! Highly recommend this book!

Love this book. We bought it together with If You Built a School and both of them are awesome. My girl cannot put them down. Nice illustrations and ideas.

I love this book. This book will be one of the few impressionable things that will make up my son's childhood. I read this to him every night. We have a stack of children's books and I ask him to pick three books in the pile for me to read to him and he always pulls out a combination of three books that includes this book, or even "If I build a school" and "if I built a car." The illustrations are amazing and stoke the imagination and the words rhyme like a dr. seuss book which always keeps the engagement. Dear Author, you could write "if I built a train" or "if I built and airplane" or any other iteration and we would buy them. We already own all of them. Are you listening?

If I could give this book 10 stars I would. The story is an easy, pleasant rhyming style that makes you want to read it over and over. The illustrations are stunning and the story about this little boy's creative dream of a house is so FUN!! It is a perfect read for a 6 yr old on up. Our 6 1/2 yr old ( who is a hard sell on books) LOVES this book and is fascinated with the retro art style Chris Van Dusen uses. He doesn't overdo it, just enough to make this generation ask questions about the pictures! Every household and library should have this book in it. You will love everything about this book
