Not great quality, but gets the job done.
Bought this euphonium for my 6th grader who needed it for his first band class. He kept having problems with valves sticking. We ended up getting some type of valve grease/oil per the recommendation from his teacher but that didn't really help. Then we took it to a proffessional wind instrument repair shop who ended up fixing the valve problem, although I'm not a 100% sure what they did exactly, but it fixed it nevertheless. So this euphonium is probably the cheapest new instrument you'll find I think it is hit or miss.I ended up buying a second one for a friend of my son who wanted to start band too but lacked the funds and his instrument did not have any issues, just my luck.As for the sound of the instrument, I cannot judge it, because I think every 6th grader sounds just about the same on any euphonium, horrible! lol.The instrument does come in a handy carrying case of which the quality, again, isn't the greatest but it works fine. the screws that hold the lid and bottom together came loose and there really isn't any access to tighten them or put new screws in.So apart from the valve problem and after 6 months of almost daily use I am quite happy with my purchase, but not happy enough to give it 4 stars.I don't think a more expensive euphonium would do a better job.

Knowing what rantbot experienced 5 stars
I expected the valves to be locked. All 3 were locked with the #1 value especially locked. I crafted a wooden dole using a pencil that had never been sharpened, put the erase in the bottom of the valve and popped them out tapping on the other end of the pencil lightly.Does not come with valve oil. Fortunately I had some Ideal Non-Toxic Conduit grease. works really good.Sound is what I expected for a $200 horn and me being out of practice by about 15 years.

What you see is NOT what you get
As is apparent from the photos and specified dimensions, the three-valve instrument is an euphonium. The instrument I received is NOT the one pictured or described, though at first glance it looks much like it. It is a baritone, a different animal altogether which happens to have some similarities to an euphonium. It does have three valves, but that's about the only thing right about it.Aside from being the wrong thing, it looks pretty good. The brasswork is very nice, the threaded valve caps are well machined and unscrew easily, the tuning slides work fine, the case is light but sturdy, and (as usual with the current crop of Chinese-made instruments) the white gloves are mysterious. It would basically be a decent product, if sold as a baritone rather than an euphonium.BUT ...All three valves were frozen into immobility. Rock-solid, no sign of movement. I was able to remove them; two came out without much of a fight, but one was really in there tight and I had to tap it out from the bottom with a drift (a fancy word for a dowel). After giving the poor things a decent dose of valve oil, all three worked fine. But no valve oil is supplied, so the customer will need to buy some elsewhere. (I always keep some Yamaha synthetic valve oil around for occasions like this, but any brand should do fine.)The customer should not have to do repairs on a new instrument (although I had no real trouble fixing this one). And when a customer buys an euphonium, he should get what he ordered.

Spend a little bit more money and it should be worth it
I realize this is meant to be an instrument that is cheaper and not exactly meant to be something professional but this thing is pretty bad. It discorages me from practicing but luckily I only bought it for the purpose of practicing at home while my instruments are at school. It’s a good thing to keep your lips warmed up over the weekend or a break from school but other than that it’s pretty bad. A concert Bb or lower feels really weird on this instrument and it may be a result of air leaks? Also this is not a Euphonium as advertised and it’s a lot smaller than my good concert Euphonium. When I received this instrument all 3 of the valves were insanely stuck to the point where I was super impressed with myself when I got them all working but I still have issues with them getting stuck everytime I play. I wouldn’t even recommend this if you have a child in elementary/middle school band because it’s just that bad. Lots of tuning issues as well but what do you really expect for the price. If you are looking for this price range just please buy a used one it has a way better chance of being decent.

Bought for my son. Came just as described and he has had no issues using it for his first year in band.

The valves do not work! I have pulled them out. One won't even come out. Now I have to pay someone to fix this instrument.
