Nice tool to practice your Braille
Nice slate. I'm newly legally blind and trying to learn Braille. I also have friends who are blind and know Braille. I thought this might be a good way to send them letters, etc.It works best you use a piece of paper a little wider than the slate. My slate does not fully close unless it closes with the paper between. It leaves holes, but just trim the paper when you are done. Also, be aware that in order for this to work, you have to write the letters of the braille backwards so that it is correct on the opposite side when you finish.Other reviews gave it low ratings because it was tearing the paper. I did not have that happen. The solid part of the slate has little grooves for the stylus to go into. You need to make sure that you are pushing the stylus straight down flush against the hole. You don't have to push hard at all. It takes a little practice. First few times I used it, it was terrible and then I figured out about grooves and everything was fine. Works on regular 20 pound paper as well as cardstock paper.

Easy to use Braille slate
My daughter is taking braille classes for college and needed this. She is extremely happy with the product. Is is very durable and not cheaply made.

not perfect, but very good for the price
Good for the price. Would be better if there were directions or a braille alphabet (since you are punching "backwards"). One major improvement needed is that the stylus is too sharp. Even using cardstock, the stylus punched an actual hole in the paper. Small, and could be smoothed to still make effective braille. Found that if you put a few extra sheets in there as well, it punches through the extra sheets and leaves a nice clean, hole free impression on the actual paper

Not for beginners
I personally didn't like this as I am just learning Braille ..you pretty much need to know Braille fluently because you kinda have to poke the Braille holes backwards then flip it around to be able to read it and I am not very good at Braille yet

Undersized
Not as wide as a sheet of paper, so if you clip it shut it ends up puncturing holes in the stationery. Works great otherwise.Perhaps it's meant for A4-sized paper?

Worked great
Bought this for my daughter's school project. She was presenting on the basics of Braille. Worked really well for what we needed.

Perfect spare slate
Works great, we use it on note cards and cardstock it leaves clean bumps and does not poke through the paper.
