We bought this metal detector as a birthday gift for our 10 year old grandson. We were going on a family trip to Port Clinton on Lake Erie and would be staying right on the beach. When the kids would tire of playing in the water, they would take the metal detector up and down the beach looking for buried treasure. It is now one year later and we went back to the same hotel and the kids still love the metal detector! So far they found a quarter, many rusty nails, aluminum pull-off drink tabs and even a Craftsman ratchet. They don’t seem to mind that they haven’t found a buried treasure! It is amazing to watch people gather around them while they are searching the beach with their parents. The detector is plastic, but is holding up well and is a good value for the money. It seems very accurate and doesn’t seem to use up the battery too quickly.

This detector works well. We found buried cans, nails, and other pieces of metal in our back yard. Some were about 5 inches underground and had clearly been there for years. We liked that this comes with a case and with a trowel and rake for digging. It is easy to use and doesn't need tuning. A great choice in metal detectors for children.

Didn’t find riches.

Purchased 2 of these for my grandsons 6 and 9 years. Prior to bringing the detectors out - my husband hide pirate treasure of metal coins in our sandy front yard - perfect for buried pirate treasure... The boys have been THRILLED with these. They come with a VERY hand storage/carrying bag - a hand shovel and a very handy claw for digging. I did separately purchased a sieve like scoop - which is very handy to sort through dug up sand and a hand held wand for checking spoils. Both have proven to be worthy extra purchases. In my opinion the boys have really gotten our money's worth out these already - hopefully they will last a while. I never hesitate to update my reviews should new info seem useful. These are great fun and have held their attention for hours at a time. Of course the buried "treasure" didn't hurt. Lots of safe excitement at home in the time of the virus when staying at home and having fun is sometimes hard. Mostly they are yellow and black plastic. And are pretty darn accurate. Overall - in use and price - I am pleased.

Very convenient and quick.

Unfortunately, this item was a disappointment. It would only work (bleep) when the sensor was in direct contact with the metal item. Which would have defeated the purpose of using it on the beach. It was easy to use and lightweight. Would have preferred it sensed metal from at least a few inches. Minimally. Update: A Customer Service rep reached out to me. They offered to send me a replacement to try again. They even followed up after receiving the item to ensure it was working. Appreciated the support and tips.

Amazing little metal detector that is perfect for treasure-hunting. Accuracy is great and our 10 year old found several items on his first outing. It's incredibly light, which is great for being able to take it out on longer adventures without getting tired of carrying it. As a parent, I love that it came with a carrying bag and digging tools versus needing to acquire those separately and it only needs one battery! It's also adjustable which will be great for continued use as our son gets taller.
