Mediflow Quilted Pillow Protector: Zippered Protection from Dust and Allergens, Adds a Layer of Luxury and Comfort

I waited a couple months to write this review because I wanted to really give this pillow a good test run. I can now honestly give it a 5-star rating. I'm mostly a left-side sleeper & like to put my are under the pillow. I like to nap on my back. I'm a restless sleeper & change positions frequently & many times during the night shift the position of the pillow, including turning it over. All of that has stopped with this pillow. I will still change positions 2 or 3 times before I get to sleep (insomnia) & this pillow is great no matter which position I'm in. No need to change position of the pillow, just my body. My neck pain is totally gone because of the support this pillow provides in all positions. I've put my arm under this pillow a couple times, I guess out of habit, and each time pulled it out. I didn't like the weight of the water on my arm. While on my back, I sleep up higher on the pillow with my shoulders actually up on the lower edge. On my side, I just use the corner of the pillow. That seems to be where I get the best support. I'm sure it will be different for different body types (I'm female, 57 years, 5'2" 200lbs). I really didn't believe a pillow could make this much of a difference in both my neck pain (pinched nerve) & in my quality of sleep (probably sleep better because the pain is gone). The pillow arrived full size (not folded or rolled) in a large box with easy-to-read instructions on how much water to add. I added the smallest amount included in the suggestions figuring it would be easier to add more later than to pour some out. I've never had to add water. I like it just the way it is.

I've had my Mediflow water pillow for a year now and I love it. My only complaint is washing it. I'm always afraid my washing machine it's going to tear or rupture the interior bag leaving my water pillow useless. Since I've gotten this cover, that is not been an issue. It's super simple to pull off and wash without harming my water pillow itself. It's super soft, quilted and washes easily. I definitely notice a difference in the fluffiness of my water pillow with this cover on. It's super easy to remove to add more water if needed and even makes my pillow cases fit better. I've never been bothered by the noise of my water pillow. However, if this bothers you this cover definitely helps with the noise level. The material is not super thick but thick enough to where you can tell a difference on your pillow. The material is breathable and washes easily. If you have a water pillow I highly recommend you get this cover. Definitely keeps your water pillow cleaner.

I really love this quilted pillowcase. The fabric cooling and highly breathable, and the quilting adds a nice soft layer between your head and the pillow -- hiding any bumps such as you can often feel in shredded foam and feather pillows. It has a very fine zipper, which enabled me to use it to put some some excess shredded memory foam I had from a different pillow to serve as a light over-pillow and there has been no leakage of foam dust. Note that the quilting is only on one side. This surprised me initially, but after thinking about it I decided this was a plus as the overall case is lighter than if it had quilting on both sides while the padding underneath would not have contributed anything to my comfort.

We purchased these pillow covers for our recently purchased water pillows (which we both love!) and are quite pleased. I took them out of the package and was very impressed with just how soft they feel! Very nice and adequate quilting. My only issues - and the reason I am giving a 4 star and not a 5 star - are: 1)that they are handwash only (I try not to buy anything if it can't go in my washer and dryer)and I don't recall seeing that in the description, 2)I wish the zipper key was either not as big or could be easily hidden as I do feel it through my pillow case and 3)I wish the quilting was on both sides so we didn't feel the water pillow plug as much as we do. But I would probably purchase these again. UPDATE 3/10/12: I admit I didn't think to look on the care instructions when I threw these in the wash today and then while I was reviewing my reviews I read what I wrote...LOL! We have an almost year old HE washer and dryer. I washed these on the 'delicate' and 'warm water' settings with my Premier Softspun sheets (these wash settings are what's on the sheets) and dried them together on low and they came out beautiful! But I still wish the zipper could be hidden as it does irritate me some nights if I happen to grab at that corner of my pillow.

My neck has been fused two times. Currently C5-C7. I have an extremely hard time finding a pillow that will properly support my neck and still prevent it from cramping up. Other famous pillows I have purchased has actually caused my neck to spasm. My Co-worker told me about this pillow. Her chiropractor suggested it to her. I purchased this and from the first night I used it I was in love with it. It has been now two weeks since using it and I have not had any cramping at all. I wake from a very restful sleep feeling wonderful. I am buying another pillow just for backup.

Only one side of the pillow protector is quilted, the other is just standard flat material.

This pillow protector exceeded expectations, it doesn’t hamper the function of the water pillow and is very cooling. Would recommend.

I have had a bad neck for years and despite using a Tempur pillow, I woke up every morning feeling like I had been in a fight. I was regularly seeing an osteopath to relieve the worst of it, and taking pain killers most day. When I got the Mediflow pillow, I was sceptical - it is a slightly weird thing to have and I didn't enjoy the one time I slept on a water bed. But after just one night, my neck pain had dramatically improved - and after 2 weeks I haven't had to take a pain killer once. It was slightly fiddly to fill up - I have 5l in mine as I like a really firm pillow, and it was tricky to get the air out properly without sloshing water over the whole thing. But once I had it the way I like, I found it to be utterly fantastic. It is firm without being solid, it moulds to your neck instantly and it isn't sloshy like a water bed - it basically feels like a normal pillow but with more flexibility. Highly recommended.
