This thing is a total lifesaver if you're super cheap like me and still have old DVD's of programs that they now charge monthly fees for. I had to upgrade my laptop and after reviewing the prices QB and Office now charge monthly I decided to dig out my old DVD's and give this thing a go (especially since there really is nothing new about the recent versions that the older ones don't have). Well, this thing worked like magic with not one issue. Plugged it in and just went. I was able to put Quickbooks, Office, Jasc Paint and full Adobe Photoshop and Image Ready from CD's. I also have an older car that still plays CD's so I am going to continue to burn from iTunes. I haven't tried it with this yet, but will update when I do. Would definitely recommend. So glad I found this and crazy easy to use.

I needed to retrieve some data off of an old CD. This worked well and was just plug and play. I have had it for a little while and now I use it to play music cd's while I am working on the computer. It is holding up well .

Seems cheaply made but it works great. I plugged it into my Mac and it started right up. Cord length could be a bit longer but not necessary. Easy to use, no installation. Only key point to know is if you’d like to eject your dvd….you need to drag the dvd icon to the trash (on your mac)

This device works perfectly, and allows us to view old family slides that we had placed on cd discs some years ago...it connects easily to our Mac laptop...so far it is just perfect...

I recently purchased an LG Ultra Slim Portable DVD Writer: After many tries, I could not get either of my Windows 11 machines to recognize it. I went to my Device Manager to update the LG drivers and was instructed to do that from the LG site. From LG's Portable Disc Writer support page I got "No Downloads Available". From Microsoft I got instructions for making registry changes, but I prefered not to do that. I returned the LG unit to Amazon and decided to try the Amicool External DVD Drive: As soon as it arrived, I plugged it in to a USB port and it showed up on my screen as a DVD drive, no install software needed. Most of my disc burning is music files to CD-R discs, so I tried copying some MP3 songs, using AnyBurn software - everything worked easily. So far, this disc writer does the job - and its disc tray feels sturdier than the LG one - and it's all a few bucks less expensive, too.

Works perfectly. Works as any other disk drive should and has, my computer recognizes it immediately. I love the option of USB / USB C I didn’t need to install anything third party, just plug in and it immediately works - Super easy, and it doesn’t make that much noise
