Drywall: Hanging and Taping: Professional Techniques for Great Results (Fine Homebuilding DVD Workshop)

Fantastic!!!! A must for the novice drywaller.
I have been a regular reader of Fine Home Building Magazine for years and the Author of this book, Myron Ferguson has been featured many times of the years. I recently decided to take on a drywall project in a small room in my home, but have little experience actually hanging and finishing drywall. I'm also a perfectionist. Most things nobody in the world would notice, drive me nuts, so it had to be perfect. I purchased this book through Amazon and what a tremendous resource it proved to be. Admitedly, I didn't read it word for word, I used it as a reference as I progressed through my project. In the end it turned out beautifully and, although not 100% perfect, it is pretty darn close, close enough that nothing drives me nuts and pretty darn good for a novice drywaller. This book saved me $100's in the end. Thanks Myron.

Should have bought this book years ago. My drywall skills are much better, but more importantly I'm doing it in about half the time and effort. And FAR less drywall dust floating around my house.

Good technical guide for those with little to moderate experience hanging and finishing drywall.
In my opinion, this is a pretty good book for people who have little to moderate experience hanging and finishing drywall, or for people with a good deal of experience but want to find out if they are following "best practices". The book is well organized and the DVD provides good technical guidance. On the other hand, I hang and finish drywall professionally on a fairly regular basis and was hoping to find some "drywalling revelations" in this book, but found nothing that I do not know and/or do already. Still, it was good to have confirmation of my techniques, and if only for that, it was worth the cost.

it's good but not great
For beginners, it's good but not great. The book is good, but the DVD is poor. You can watch the DVD to cure your insomnia. But then, I'm watching the presenter for his drywalling, not his acting skills. My real complaint is that the DVD does not cover nearly as much as the book. Run time is listed on the DVD as only 28 minutes. One section of the DVD is "Hanging a Vaulted Ceiling." If he's only covering the basics, that is too specialized for a 28 minute video.

Excellent
I own a previous book by this author on this subject. This contains new information. Myron Ferguson thinks about what he is doing unlike many other builders..

Drywall
An excellent book for the beginner. Deals with lots of techniques. An excellent book for someone starting out and a good reference for someone who doesn't do it enough. Probably more knowledge than a do it yourself needs. Might be confusing as a result.Excellent book, highly recommended.Ferguson is legend among drywallers

Haven't actually put the data to use but it looks like a useful resource.
I only do drywall sporadically so can't say as I can fully judge the value of this book. Have a project coming up in my own basement and can't afford professional installation so I thought I'd up the ante on my DIY job with some professional insights. This book appears to have them and it's actually quite readable. So there are my 2-cents (4 stars) on the matter.
