Wow
I never replaced the heads on my kick because of how expensive they are (roughly $90 for batter and reso). I bought the emad 2 for the batter side and I had a show coming up and still had the stock reso head on my pdp concept set.. I chose this as the new reso head and WOW DOES IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?! the kick sounds so full thick and deep. If you never had anything other than stock heads on your kick I can highly recommend the eq3 reso head and the emad 2 kick. Great combination and they're very easy to tune. I love Evans.

Great for the Gretsch Catalina Club 18" bass drum.
I didn't see any reviews for the 18" head, so here's one. I think this head is fantastic. I know that 18" is generally thought of as more of a jazz size and the Gretsch Catalina Club is sold as one, but really, you don't have to be limited by that. I personally think that the bop kits are perfect for all kinds of music in this day and age where excessive volume is frowned upon anyway. With less air moving around, smaller kits can also be often easier to record as they will likely cause fewer problems acoustically.I installed this ported resonant head with an EMAD on the other side, tuned them both pretty low, and now I have a cracking little bass drum with a perfect low pop rock sound. The ported head is lined on the inside. It won't protect against a razor blade or anything, but you can definitely stick your hand in there and adjust your blankets or your microphone and not worry about messing up your head.My favorite kick drum mic is the Sennheiser e602 II, as it strikes a perfect balance of mix-ready and in-the-room sound for me. While my e602 will grab a great tone from almost any bass drum, even without a ported resonant bass drum head, but with the port, it's easy to fine tune exactly what to get from the kick drum, thereby having a more controlled sound with less bleed and EQ.Get this head. You'll like it, and live sound and studio people will love it, too.

Tried using this instead of black EQ3. Works fine.
I use a Kick port in this skin. I was thinking about doing a decal which is why I went white instead of black on the reso kick head. It's evans. It's a great product. I use in conjunction with EMAD2 BATTERS.

Sounds quite good for the price.
Nice finish and sound for the price. I was looking for a simple (inexpensive) new clean white head to put on a drum I was selling. Looks and sounds great.

A little too thick for a good resonant head
I love Evans heads but this was a little too thick for a resonant head in my opinion. Just a matter of taste I guess.

He did a great job, but as I kind of suspected
I got this particular head, so one of my bandmates could create a band painting on it. He did a great job, but as I kind of suspected, the weight of the paint on the head diminished the head's performance, so I'm not getting as good a sound as if it weren't painted. Next time I might do an "INKED" head instead.

Versatile head that sounds and looks great!
This head is a great reso option; it sounds and looks great. While it doesn't come with a metal or plastic cutout protector it does have reinforcement on the back of the hole to prevent tears when using a mic. I also think this matte coated finish looks phenomenal. It gives your kit a beautifuly timeless look.

Smooth white, excellent drumhead
If you're looking for a smooth white resonant bass drum head, this drumhead by Evans I believe is one of the best. It has a 5" port already cut out for mic placement and also a muffling ring around the head on the backside of the drumhead. I like the opaque smooth white head compared to a coated bass drum head because a coated head could get dirty quicker, the smooth white surface is much easier to keep clean. This drumhead has made all my bass drums sound better and it looks great. A white resonant bass drumhead, to me, gives a drumset a brighter more noticeable appearance, no matter what the color is of the drum set. If the drumkit is vintage and the front head needs to be replaced, this drumhead will capture the retro look of the drums and probably improve the sound of the old drums too unless ofcourse you want a reso head with the brand name already on the head but you can always buy a sticker of the drum company to put on this drumhead. I've bought two of these heads, a 22" and a 24" and I'm very pleased with both of them.

Amazing head.
Been drumming for nearly 30 years. 5 years in death metal. Used this skin for 2 albums and one ep. with a vinyl cover for touring. Gives great resonance even with the vinyl tour cover. Fast pedalling is great with this skin. Love it. still waiting for a reason to buy any other. Until then i shall stick with evans. They make fantastic heads.

So much better!
This has worked a charm for the feel and sound of my 20x20 Ash kick drum. The beater responds better to the batter head with this resonant head fitted, and the sound of the drum is much better; less honky, much more open and powerful with a good beater 'slap' if you need it. Of course, this depends on how you have it mic'd, and with what mic. Overall, a great purchase.

Nice head good for recording or live work
Good head gives as good or better performance than the stock head that came with my Pearl Session kit.I bought it since I needed the mic hole (which is fairly small but big enough for large kick drum mics). These heads arrive in a cardboard "envelope" which could probably be firmer but assuming your postie doesn't knock it around too much it should arrive in tact.

Bass Drum Skin
Evan's skins are quality products and this bass drum skin was no different, needed the front hole to allow the bass drum mic to be inserted into drum, plane skin but can get the band logo added at later stage. Packaging, postage and delivery both excellent - no complaints and recommended!!
