Not Happy With This Product
This is a pretty terrible product.First off, the thermometer takes well over 20 seconds to get an accurate reading, I wasn't expecting 5 second reads for the price point but it does not measure temperature in nearly the time stated.Second, I have to take the batteries every time I store this thing because if I don't they die. Please understand that I am not a moron, I have made sure that the device is turned off before storage (even though that shouldn't be necessary because it should turn itself off as advertised. I have tested the batteries after storing and gone through several, if I do not remove the batteries they will be dead despite having turned the device off.Third, it defaults to Celsius, I get that we as stupid Americans are the odd ones out in using our measuring system, but we do use it. It can't be that hard to have it remember your selection so when I turn this thing on I am not measuring food in Celsius, I have almost overcooked food because of this.I feel I am being generous giving 2 stars, but at the end of the day, it measures temps, can't say much else about it though. Avoid this product and go with something that actually works

Good product just don't get it wet
I like this product it is very useful and reads temperatures relatively fast. I like that you can switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius though I wish the product remembered what your last choice was. It seems to default to Celsius. This product also comes with a table describing different internal temperatures of meat and the done-ness level of each of those. I leave this posted on my refrigerator for easy access. This product also comes with a strong attachable magnet which works well on a refrigerator or other metal surfaces. The only downside to this product is that you absolutely cannot get the body of it wet. It will not work after it has been exposed to liquids. I had to replace my first one but stuck with this particular product because of its cost and utility.

Good digital guage for food
It seems to give an accurate temperature reading, but it's not "Super Fast". It takes several seconds for it to register the temperature. It's not any faster than non-digital gauges. I do like the digital readout.The default is Celsius so you have to set it to Fahrenheit every time you want to use that scale.The unit turns off when you close the probe against the handle (it clicks into place). However, you need some good fingernails to open it again.

It worked fine for a couple weeks
It worked fine for a couple weeks. Now it is incredibly frustrating to get a reading from.Here how it works now, after having it for a few weeks: Open the probe to turn it on, 888 flashes for a few seconds, then it picks up the ambient air temp in degrees C. Stick it in food, and i get 888 flashing for a good 10 seconds. Then it measures in C, but it's hard to tell if it's accurate because any slight movement will send it to 888 flashing again.Try to switch to degrees F? 888 FLASHING.Try to turn it off with the button? 888 FLASHING.Replace battery? NO EFFECT.Think very carefully before you purchase this TD Offer digital thermometer. It sure is cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Works fine for a cheap thermometer, but not a "top-of-the-line" gourmet cooking product.
Slightly awkward to use as display is on the side of case, requiring you to tilt your head sideways to read. Definitely not ideal when you're trying to check the temp on a roast turkey while it's in a hot oven. Seems to work ok otherwise, so good for the price, I guess. Copy on back of package is hilarious.

Reading time is just okay, couple of issues.
This is good for the price, however the top part of the numbers are hard to see. You must tilt it to see if the number is a 1 or 7, and 4 or 9. Bit of a hassle. Also it always starts in metric requiring user to press the conversion button.

It's very fast but it's not instant.
It's very fast but it's not instant. Also, I'm a little concerned about the construction as I had a hard time getting the probe away from the body when it arrived and now it no longer locks in place. Otherwise it works very well and I would not hesitate recommending.

Not instant
The metal probe came out while cleaning but I was able to re-insert it. It takes around 10 seconds to get to temp, not instant. I would have given it 1 star but it came with a battery and a cool carry bag.
