When an angry, unemployed chemist unleashes a bio-terrorist attack against women and children, the President of the United States asks Donovan Creed to get involved. It's just one more thing on Creed's plate. Review: True joy to read - pure entertainment - John Locke's "Maybe" is pure entertainment and a true joy to read, As usual for the Donovan series, great story with lots of action, humor, and surprises. It's all wrapped together and in updated context - Lou, Darwin, Kimberly, Callie, Doc Howard, Glenn, Sam Case, Rachel, Sherry Cherry, Dr. P., new player Dani Ripper (from "Call Me"), Miranda Rodriguez, new player "Rose," and a scattering of others. From this ending it's very obvious we're in for some very interesting follow-on, as there are some very explosive combinations left hanging, which implies far from an ending of Donovan's adventures or surprises awaiting him when he finds out some of what we, the readers, have learned. Donovan does have his problems trying to understand women, but that just puts him in the same sphere of mysteries as the rest of the earth's male population. Some of his straight faced conversations with his beautiful friends are hilarious. This book is simply a joy to read. It is pure entertainment. Enjoy it, and if you haven't read the entire series, I suggest you seriously consider doing so. In addition, John Locke's three book Emmett Love series, is a riot. Funny as a horse which refuses to turn in any but one direction, but will walk behind the frustrated rider, or a bear with a gigantic sense of humor. Review: Donovan Creed series - While not as good as some of the previous books in this series I still enjoyed reading it. Some things just felt unfinished. I am hoping they will be revisited in the next books to wrap them up. That said, I can't wait to start on the next book.

Maybe I'll read this three times...
I read Maybe in one day and now I'm on my second reading. I'm glad to get past the last book, Call Me!, and into the next Creed book. Maybe was fast-paced and probaby the funniest since the first book in the series. I really loved the narrative of this book. We got into Creed's head a little more this time and into Callie's head which was a great surprise. Like others have said, a lot of story lines were tied-up nicely and we can see that there is a lot of fun reading ahead of us. My only criticism is I wish the editors would catch the "I could care less." Please say "I couldn't care less." Just one little silly thing that distracts an idiot like me. But if it's artistic license by John, then I take it back. :) Overall, a great read and in my opinion, it's in the top two of the Creed books. And of course it's it one of the best books I've read all year!

The Best of a Great Franchise! WIll not disappoint...
I read this in a single sitting. (Rare for me.)I'm an admitted fan of Locke's writing and particularly of the Donovan Creed series. Maybe is the best of the best of the series, hands down! Maybe brings together a number of issues from his characters from previous books into a tight , well written, funny and totally unpredictable read. Donovan Creed, experienced assasin and his beautiful female partner have to deal with coutesans, the carnage created by a mad chemist touring the country poisoning people, assasins who are trying to kill them and the problems created by the newest assasin on the team when she murders her supposed boyfriend. The newest assasin on the team is Creed's own daughter! Crazy characters, funny scenarios, zany plot, great writing and just plain enjoyment. If you're looking for a plain zany, exciting read written in the spirit of writers like Carl Hiaasen, Randy Wayne White and other's of the genre' without the south Florida scenes, John Locke and "Maybe" may just be the ticket. Be good to yourself, give "Maybe" a read.

Donovan Creed is business as usual
Locke writes prolifically and prices low. What do you want for a buck? Yet this series continues to please. Donovan Creed is a brilliant master assassin and this instalment has much to offer. The usual intrigue and in-fighting with Donovan handling it all with his usual aplomb. The only noticeable drop in this segment of the story is his wise-cracking. It's lost some of the hilarity. I get the impression that the author is running out of fresh humour for Creed. Understandable when you consider the array of hilarious quotes that the first few books managed to come up with. And, of course, it is imperative that Creed's dialogue avoid being hackneyed. So maybe (no pun intended) this is for the best. Anyway, it was over too fast and I am waiting yet again for the next one ...

There's a Great Book Hidden in Here Somewhere
I cracked the latest in the Creed saga with some anticipation. I'm a huge fan of the series, and MAYBE starts out with such promise: Creed vs. Evil Genius Terrorist But it doesn't happen. The mystery is solved too easily. The confrontation never happens. There's simply no suspense. Locke sets the reader up for a thrill ride but, sadly, he doesn't deliver. Sure, the book will entertain the devoted Locke reader. There's lots to like here: lots of sex, various murders, random mayhem. And there's Creed himself, as unique a character as you'll find anywhere. He's hilarious and strangely lovable as he goes about his day wiping people out. It's unclear why the book is called MAYBE. Creed's daughter Kimberly, now called Maybe, is in the book for a while and then just disappears. Various subplots come and go with the tide. There's some interesting inside-baseball stuff about the mysterious Darwin, the tragic Rachel, and the inner workings of Integrated Resources. Even Rose makes an appearance. After the terrorist is dispatched, the book falls apart. The subplot involving a character called Dani Ripper suddenly comes to the fore. And it makes very little sense. The ending, while intriguing, feels unearned. Woulda shoulda coulda been a great book, but it lacks discipline. It could have used a rewrite. Or two.

My thoughts
Wish I could see a picture of Callie. Not nasty just pretty, not posed enjoying a glass of wine all alone at an outdoor seashore bistro in Paris.

Another Exciting Tale
John Locke's Maybe is another exciting fast paced book that is well worth the 99 cents that you have to lay down to read. His Donovan Creed character keeps you guessing and turning the page. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fast paced thrillers with a little bit of humor mixed in. It was an excellent read.

absolutely hilarious!!!
The Creed sequels have had is ups and downs: first Locke tried for serious action then made the misstake with a pseudo fantasy/mystery (Now and Then). At last he found his metier and rocked with his last ones. Stopping to take himself tooExtremely funny, fast paced, with lots of twists and turns, revelations and fortunately enough open questions at the end to make one crave the next book of the series ~ hopefully coming soon... Although it will be very hard to top "Maybe" I'm afraid.

A good series
I enjoy this series, although I'm starting to wonder how much longer I'll be able to read the same story over and over again... but Locke's writing is engaging and stimulating, and there's always a reason to buy the next book!

Slightly better than the previous few in the series
Again another addictive book from John Locke. This one had a slightly different better story than the last few that were starting to feel as if the books were just being thrown out to appease fans. There is still lots of spelling and grammar mistakes in these books, does anyone check them before submission?

ME likey
I really like Donovan Creed novels, think Micky Splain updated, or perhaps even James Bond. Gritty, amusing and above all fun, the perfect thing to read to get you away form the stress of the day. Adventurist tosh for sure, but very superior tosh!
